:munch:sometimes i start the car and it runs real rough like it is only running on 2 cylinders or something. and has no throttle. and die if you let off the gas. after half a minute or so it is running fine. driving the other day after i started it and it lost power like it was running on 2 cyl. again and was running very rich. MAF sensor? or maybe cam sensor? it leaks oil on the cam sensor a little. i was thinking on startup sometimes it runs rough till the oil is flung from the senor shaft and runs fine. any ideas?

Mine did that...started about 5000 miles before spitting a shim. The bucket was binding and the exhaust valve would get stuck open as a result.

How many miles on this engine?

havent checked codes in awhile. before it was only the DPFE(egr)sensor. i have 255,000 mi. i fixed the prob. a little bit ago. cleaned the cam sensor and MAF sensor. I painted the housing and got some paint on the face where the MAF goes. so i cleaned it off good. we will see today if it acts up. usually when i drive it for awhile and stop at the store it does the rough running and no throttle bit again(only for a minute or so) on return. but not always.

Those match my symptoms.

Once the bucket got going, it ran great for the rest of the trip...until one day, the bucket never got going.

It could be a failing crank sensor, but it's far from an open-shut case with those symptoms.

Pull the codes. A failing crank sensor won't always set a code, but if it is set, then at least you know you're not wasting your time and money on replacing it.

i already did the 60K. changed the CPS, waterpump, assy. belt, timing belt. Cam swap. cleaned the intake sys. and fuel sys. out(with seafoam) changed the fuel pump. ran great. Running very good now that i went though the engine. only cleaned the MAF, plugs. Back to normal but actually running better than it has. smooth idle now.

Keep an eye on it because I had the same issue with a bad cps. I changed it when I did my 60k, went through a whole bunch of troubleshooting and ended up changing the cps again and away went my problems.
