had an account on here but they claim my username is no longer valid so had to start a new one....anyway....i have a 91 taurus sho that i race in a dirt track 6 cylinder class....some mods are done to the 3.0 motor and MTX transmission so I want to keep them. Unfortunately the body and chassis has really gotten rusty and borderline unsafe to race anymore. I picked up a 95 sho with a 3.2 and bad ATX that has a very nice chassis and body....ive looked and looked on this forum and have found answers but not specific to my question. What i want to know is can i pull the 3.2 motor and tranny from the 95 and put my 3.0 motor and MTX transmission into it and convert it? What is involved in doing this if it is even possible? Thank You

You are looking to convert a ATX to MTX for which there a few write ups. Your best bet would be to get a wire harness from a 95 MTX as there are a lot of wire changes from 91 to 95.

I would keep the 3.2 and transfer the 3.0 front end over. You can modify the heads to accept the 3.0 hardware.

i don't want to use the 3.2 because I don't know anything about it. The previous owner had no clue what has or hasn't been done to it.....the 3.0 i have in the 91 i know exactly what has been done to it and modified....that is why I want to take the whole drivetrain from the 91 and put it into the 95. I am just wondering if its possible to take the 3.0 and manual tranny and put it into the 95 that had the 3.2 and auto tranny.

It is possible if you move the entire engine / trans (complete with the 90 subframe) into the 95. Of course you will need the clutch pedal assembly and all the hardware that goes with it. And take the advice on the the wiring harness complete with the CCRM. I would go for the wiring harness from a manual transmission car as well, partially due to the O2 sensors being very different and you need that information for your engine to run well.
There are a lot of write-ups on making the swap and lots of people who have done the opposite (3,2 into a MTX), so there is lots of advice on the matter.
The single belt system on the 3.2 is appealing as the belt travels at a much slower speed, but that helps for longer life which probably matters little in you application.
