I just purchased an 89 sho with 165,000 miles on the body and 80,000 miles on the engine. I paid $450 for it because it has a shifting problem. Im not a mechanic but I'd like to learn (which is why I bought this). I already own a 1998 V8 sho and wanted a V6 sho as well. Anyway, I think it is going to need a new clutch. To drive you must put the car in first then start it. To shift into second you must pass 25mph, push the clutch to the floor, tap the gas and it will slide out of gear then rev the engine between 2,100 rpms and 2,500 rpms to get it into second. You must do this for every gear. I have been told by a few people that the throwout bearing is most likely not releasing from the pressure plate. Like i said im not a mechanic so im looking for the answer. Also I just found that there maybe different sized clutches from gen 1 to gen 2. I was hoping to buy a DxD clutch because im going off of recommendations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :thankyou:
