As of today Chicago Assembly Plant is 88k doers behind schedule. 46k of those orders are Explorers and the rest are Taurus. We literally can't make these vechicles fast enough. Not only that, the vendors can't keep up. They have decided to send us home for a few days to catch up. Lol. They have to pay us regardless. I expect us to be working again 2morw

:omg: . That's great news though, especially for the Explorer. Just keep hammering away :smash:. That's all you can do.

Have Job 1 Explorer builds been going pretty smooth though?

They asked me to say, officially were out of v6 and ecoboost motors, we have 7k Explorers with no read quarter glass, and 4k Taurus's that are missing parts. They want to keep goin but engineers have said no cause u just cant put some of these parts on latr without an adverse effect. They want us to report to work 2morw (they would have to pay us anyway) just incase parts show up.

So does that put deliveries weeks or days behind? My SHO was scheduled to be built next week, so it must have delayed those orders too?

I wAs just getting ready to email u. Your car as u know, is not in the system as of yet. And yes, this could effect your build and delivery date if were down more than a day or 2. But believe me, if we get behind, they will try to make it up, even if we have to work a couple Sunday's (double-time, YES!) I'll keep you posted brother.

The Explorers have been coming through fairly smooth. We had the seat problem in the beginning(all back seats just folded forward when u stopped hard, vendor issue) but it has all been resolved. They do have a TSB on something on the 1s that are already out, but it's a minor issue. Customers apparently love them. They average less than 3 days at the dealerships.

Thanks my man.....The delay doesn't sound too serious -- perhaps a matter of days.....so let's hope it's no more than that.
Cheers for watching out for me.

Greg, thanks for the post.

I was able to convince our Mayor and Chief to invest in the new Police Package Taurus's and the Police Package Explorers.

I know you said that those are being built offsite an entirely different facility other than the CAP, but I guess if the civilian models are running a tad bit behind, it wouldn't be too far off the beaten path to suspect that the PI pkg's are behind as well.

Originally our agency was slated to purchase a total of 19 new squads this year. The Mayor approved a total of 9 instead. We are slated to get 6 of the PI Taurus's and 3 of the PI explorers. :woo-hoo: :woo-hoo: :woo-hoo:

It oughta be pretty cool roll'n around the streets in one of these new cars.

Keep up the great work and please pass along our congrats to all of your co-workers for doing such a fine fine job on the assembly line.... it's not often you hear about a company being too busy and back logged on future orders.

Yet another testament to how well FORD is doing even in these tough economic times.

Bravo Greg! Bravo! :thumb:

So Mike, ya gonna bring one to Tonys BBQ to pull people over?
Also did you get my pm/u2u about trying a shirt on before I order it?

Taurus Builder,

How is the production line going on Taurus's and Explorers?

I wanted to ask do you only work on Taurus's or both. Do they shoot both vehicles down the same lines.

And have you heard if the X's have the rear seatbelt air bag being installed yet?

If you haven't guessed I just ordered a 11 X today.

I can answer this one: ALL 2011 Explorers come standard with rear seatbelt airbags. So, yes.

Unless something has changed, all the literature I have seen and the Ford website and the ordering guide show the seat-belts as a late availability.

Where have you seen that the rear seatbelt-airbags are a standard option?
