No, the Filter is one of the last steps after halving the case and pulling everything else out of the way to get to it. as shown as step 69....
802SHO,

After watching the filter change and the module change in your video I'm wondering. Would you think it's possible to replace that filter while the transmission is in the vehicle?

Thanks
Frank

I'm a newbee when it comes to transmissions. Are you saying it has more than 1 filter?

Frank
It really has one filter the main transmission filter. The other little tiny thing attached to the valve body is a filter plate but not anything in comparison to what the main filter is.

Curious on how your experiment with changing trans fluid is coming along, any issues so far?

@DadMobile is experimenting with ULV. I don’t have a working car yet. My plan with the junk yard trans is to do several drain and fills with LV…..and once I start getting more aggressive with tuning, if it starts cutting power on shifts I’ll experiment with a drain of LV and fill of ULV. So I’ll try it as needed.

Some are great, some are shit.
Agreed.
I would also bargain to say, just personal experience, that for those deemed "great" as stated, that a lot of that greatness came from embracing a maintenance routine that would be considered "extreme" by most relative standards.

That said, even mine began showing signs of wear and (impending) failure when she came out, along with the motor, at 81k.

But there were also lots of tracks passes, road coursing, street light drags, dyno sessions etc. along with some years of DD use that each/all contributed to those wear and impending failure indicators.
