I have an announcement to make. I have humbly accepted a sponsorship with S.E.P. (Schwartz Engineered Performance). https://schwartzep.com/

@aaron240 has a great existing product line for this platform, of which I already have his brake brackets to use 4 piston Wilwood Superlite Calipers and Hood/Fender Louvers. I installed a variant of my own front mount IC but also use the TreadStone TR10C that Aaron currently runs. Showing you don’t have to consider GearHead as an only option. Also he’s working with me on a prototype PTU brace.

Aaron has a lot of upcoming products in development where he’s making parts out of Carbon Fiber. He’s hungry for success and wants to take this platform to the next level as do I. Teaming up with Aaron feels right and I’m excited to see where we can take this platform.

If you haven’t already and you want to, check out Aaron’s current offerings in the link above. Thank you Aaron for your generous offer! Let’s do this!!View attachment 82763
Thanks man, I appreciate the support and look forward to working with you and pushing that current 1/4 mile record even further!

Very cool Andrew! I'll be sure to check out the link you provided and even better, see what offerings he has coming out, that I might not have yet for my whip.

Hope all's well and that you have a great Christmas!

I have successfully swapped “brains” in the two transmissions I have. My 2014 junk yard trans now identifies as my 2010 lol! With the help of @Autox4fun he advised me I could just swap the solenoids and not have to take my vehicle to Ford. He also gave me a part number for replacing the filter plate when performing the swap. I ordered them directly from https://www.wittrans.com/. Part number 25016A. $34 dollars roughly.

It was a first for me and just in case anyone else might want to do this I filmed the whole thing. Video coming soon. 43D0342E FA18 4713 A31A BD35DFBF14E1

Happy New Year!!! 2022 is going to be interesting. I present to you my Welded Front Diff! 4939DB7E B1A5 4005 9A31 1E369729F6969CA088F1 F954 4503 A5F6 BD221E8E79A997B1A823 79E5 4C85 9830 DDBAB31EF4A3
@aaron240 and I made a deal to start working on a phantom lsd grip locker for our particular front diff, as to be modeled after the design by Racing Diffs, however the space was far too tight. We didn’t want to have to modify any teeth and that would end up being the ONLY way to get something in there. Only 1” between the gears.

Scratching that idea, Aaron reached out to 5-6 companies about making a one off custom LSD unit. A few companies got back to us but they wanted 30-50k upfront and a 20-30 unit group buy. So, I told Aaron to have it welded and he was able to provide that service. It’s welded in 4 spots on each side so 8 welds total. Using high quality materials and it really looks good! And it’s been hot tanked to ensure there isn’t any debris from welding.

For what I have into my junk yard trans, Im willing to use this welded front diff to show everyone the benefits of what an LSD could offer….without breaking the bank. Of course this isn’t a limited slip unit, it’s now locked but….in a straight line should provide results as to what a limited slip could do if an LSD for our platform existed.

If I can prove that this can give another 1/10 faster 60ft at least…….then maybe 30-40 ppl will stand behind a group buy of a real LSD.

My New Year’s Resolution is a 1.4 60 FT!

802SHO,

My first thought was why would you want to weld that differential. After reading the post I understand, but I'm thinking it may be an issue when you are making turns. Let us know how it turns out.

I wondering how this will be able to turn?
Turning sharp will cause one wheel to drag intermittently and cause uneven tire wear. Depends on how much sharp turning I need I to do the tires will wear fast. I don’t look forward to sharp turns but I’m optimistic I will be able to live with it.

This is a test. I’m willing to sacrifice a transmission, front axles and any other weakest link. To hopefully show:
1) the performance benefits of what an LSD could do
2) hopefully have no failures
3) remove and inspect the front diff and welds when I swap in the other trans I plan to build
4) hopefully show that turning isn’t as bad as we thought
5) if it is working great it’ll go into my built trans.

If you have a softer tire on the front, it will help with the turning.

802SHO,

After watching the filter change and the module change in your video I'm wondering. Would you think it's possible to replace that filter while the transmission is in the vehicle?

Thanks
Frank

Yeah but it would make a huge mess. Only 5-6 quarts come out when you drain the trans. Taking the side cover off in the car could be done.

Hey if you can crack the 10s every little bit helps. Can't wait to see the video when your dream becomes reality.

Thank you and I can’t wait either. I hope I overshoot my target by a lot. I really need top end more than anything. After the 1/8th mile I was averaging 23-25mph. I hope to see closer to 30+mph after the 1/8th.
