Hey guys, I was wondering if it was worth it purchase these Friction discs. I recently hurt the trans badly in my 13 sho pp and will be swapping it at work. I would be doing turbos, High flow cats, hp fuel pump. Or should I just stay with a new stock trans. Also is the Gearhead torque converter worth it?

Exactly, Matt Pohnan isn’t impressed and wouldn’t want them even if they were available. I’m guessing for whatever application he used them for they were defective. I’d assume not all are bad, or they probably wouldn’t be in business. It’s unfortunate that Raybestos announced their release, as well as had no problem selling some and accepting payment for a product they still have NOT produced. So far they are like the Nick Olsen of “professional” companies taking advantage of our small niche community. How could anyone with a spine…make an ad, advertise, fail to produce and also accept payment for said product not produced? And leave paid customers hanging? For months? Nick Olsen would have been the only person(s) I could think of, Shit, even Steve at AKD BuiltPerformance eventually sends you something even if it’s a paperweight. But I guess we can add Raybestos to that spineless list.

And just to confirm I received this email just a couple weeks ago, looks like the Raybestos disks will be a no go. Even though they stated the project isn't dead, but sure looks like it's going to go nowhere.Screenshot 20221207 193324

This is same answer I received from them. I am going on 3rd trans and really wanted better options.
What's holding me back, having a CSS block built. But don't want to be doing transmission changes every year.

One outlet I'm trying to reach is custom clutch manufacturers. Has anyone on this forum looked into possibly using a heavy duty organic clutch, that could be cut down to our OEM size?

try contacting Pat with Level 10 Transmissions. they successfully upgraded an edge sport 6f55 transmission, and may be able to assist you.

Thanks, I will inquire with them on my brain fart. I was thinking outside the box, bigger heavy duty friction discs exist, and if Raybestos won't make them, why not see if we can take a bigger one and have it cut to 6f55 spec.

The friction discs from the GM 6T80 might be slightly stronger than the Ford equivalent. You would have to contact a transmission shop to see if they cross over.
I was never able to find enough information on my own to confirm or deny that suspicion. As far as I know it was only used in the Cadillac equivalent of the Taurus SHO. That or it is just the same part used on the 6T70. Equivalent to the Ford 6f55.
