Im not very mechanical and i was interested in getting a 60k done to my car. Performance plus charges close to $700...... Do any of you know how to/know a place to get it done for a bit cheaper??? How much will you/they charge to do it??

IMO, I guess a 60K is great, but I'd consider how long you want to have the car, and how bad of shape its already in! I've spent a ton of money on my SHO, but I don't think 60K stuff would have prevented any of the repairs I've had to do. For the last 4 years, besides a tranny rebuild, most of my repairs have been suspension stuff, which is mostly my lack of upkeep. Well, I drive hard and drive a ton also....

Of course, my SHO isn't nearly as fast as I want it to be, but it fits the bill! I was doing just find a few weeks ago in the 90/94 express lane doing 130mph's playing around with some compact car! :nut: I'm pushing close to 180mph in the worse year of the SHO, 93ATX. Dropping the foot while in the 20mph - 30mph range still has that great burst of acceleration although I can't chirp the tires like some other atx'ers claim.:salute:

My SHO is pushing 180,000miles never having a full 60k,120k, or whatever K that is suggested for the pita SHO. It's getting and sounding older, but I shouldn't expect much less without following the SHO maintenance schedule.

I replaced my vcg and plug well seals only a few months ago. No major change, but the plug wells are dry! Not a bad job, tedious nonetheless for someone like me and my hapless mechanical wherewithal.

imo.......

What kind of 60k? Upper 60k? (valve shim adjustment, plugs, Valve cover + Plug well gaskets, wires, ect?)

Or a front 60k? (timing belt, ect)

MTX or ATX?

Oh, buy and watch the 60K tape! I believe you cn find it at shophoenixproject.com or shotimes.com. I'd give you mine, but it was lost. Shophoenix would walk you through it on their website. If you're like me, you'll be like heckymickeyfickeynaw, I ain't doing that by myself! :oogle: If you don't have inferior tools, and have some mechanical sense, you could take out 2 days to do it. Having all the tools and not having to buy those, in addition to parts may be a problem, i dunno......

Many members will help you out here! Good Luck!!!!!

Well..... its a 95 mtx..... i plan on having it FOREVER and have no clue as to what the guy before me did to it. It has 111k on it, it seems to be running fine but i just want to make sure it lasts as long as some of the other sho's out there that i see with anywhere from 180 to 319k!!! If this car were to last till 200k i would be more than happy.... do you think it is worth it to dump the money into it for a 60k if it runs pretty good?? The only problem is a lack of gas mileage (18) and it sometimes heats up to the O on normal and makes squeeling noise during start up, so what do you guys think, is it worth it?

Why is the least mechanically inclined lamer responding to this thread!?

Well, I'll add my .02cents anyway.....

My gas mileage is terrible also! My issues could be the vss, old oil, in need of a new map sensor, and some exhaust overhaulin'......i dunno. I'd be close to rich if it weren't for my shizzo!

As long as the temp reading falls anywhere in the NORML range, you should be ah'ight, from what I've read on this board! Last summer, my reading always would hit at the last tip of the NORML. This summer, being more hotter (double-verb:naughty: ), it has stayed within average all summer, even on hot days. I've been using that cheap ass Murrays 50/50 diluted anitfreeze this summer! Who Knew!:oogle:

Good luck with that "keeping the SHO FOREVER" parody thingy!:thumb: It's possible though, mostly if you can do the bulk of your own repairs, or have Bill Gates money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hail:

However.................:shappens:

If it runs ok, don't mess with it.IMHO
111k, original radiator? I just changed mine at 145k and droped it a couple letters on average. But the fan will do it's job no matter how fast it gets there, but it runs more.
The squeeling is a loose belt, again, IMO.
Maybe pull 1 sparkplug just to see it and make sure it's an acceptable part #.

you should be able to tackle the upper 60k your self atleast the spark plug/wires, gaskets part of it. you dont need to many tools to do it either. good start to get your feet wet. next thing you know it youll be rebuilding a motor like me :p . to bad you werent a part of the club when we had the tech meets at platoribs (chris) house. come to some of the meets and we or atleast i could run you through some of the work. its the only way to own a SHO affordably is doing the wrench work your self.

Keep spraying though! It'll come back intermittently! I'd spray for 3 to 5 more days; mostly at last drive of the day.
