Ok, I have everything put back together after 60k service, and when I go to start her up, she sounded like she was missing for a couple seconds, then a popping noise, then coolant starts to gush from under the throttle body. I didn't touch the thermostat, and that's not where the water seems to be leaking from. There was also a very high pitched whine, very loud. Is this the timing belt settling in?

Sounds like you forgot to hookup the small coolant hose to the throttle body.

see if you can run down exactaly where the noise is comming from is it comming from the timming belt area or the intake, you might have a air leak

it seems to be coming from the area around the front drivers side cylinder. It whined when started then went away for a sec. she was idling around 500 rpm, then with a little gas, she jumped way up to about 3k, and the whine came back really loud, also from the same cylinder. No air leaks detected. The coolant was a line under the throttle body.
she's also smoking white.

the whine honestly sounds like your timing is out of whack, the white smoke would suggest a head gasket leak, but there are other places where coolant is allowed to enter the engine. I'm assuming that a vacuum line got swapped for a coolant line, thus the white smoke.

should the letters on the timing belt be ledgible from the passenger or drive's side of the engine? (i.e. which way does the writing on the belt go?)

From the drivers side as you are looking at the engine.

Update:
no vacumm and coolant lines switch. Timing belt is on in the correct direction, and with the marks lining up, still a really high pitched whine, and smoke from the back valve cover/exhaust manifold. I thought something in the valvetrain may be scraping, so I pulled the rear valve cover again and can't find anything...
HELP... I NEED MY SHO!!!

How did the engine run before the service? You must trace your footsteps back to before the repair. Are all hoses and electrical connections restored to their original locations? Do you have an intake manifold leak? Timing belts do not 'run in' - when they're on, they're on. Did you gouge any wiring looms with a sharp screwdriver? Did you properly gag the CPS? Did you observe the spark plug firing order when replacing the plug wires? Spark plugs in tight(but not overtorqued)? Please update us on your progress...

She was running fine before the service. I couldn't find any air leaks that were causing the problem. I found a couple of valves that I re-shimmed, but they were still within clearances.
Last time I tried to crank it, I traced the noise back to the #3 or #2 cylinder, closer to the intake side I belive. There seemed to be a slight knock, but the screeching was still there. It starts immiately at startup, goes away for a sec, then comes back. Then white smoke comes out from the back side of the rear bank, not sure if it was from the valve cover or the exhaust manifold.

BUT alas, I stripped two valve cover bolts on the front side... so I've got other problems to deal with now.. I'll start a new post on that.
