Um yes I dropped the 2010 at the dealer Thursday for the above fix per the TSB which I told them and even brought them a copy of. Now it's end of the day on Saturday and they still have the car. Last I heard was Friday and they were still waiting on more info from regional tech people or something.

3 days to fix a rattle normal? Especially when there's detailed directions in a TSB??

That's part of the reason I decided to fix mine myself. I hate the thought of someone else tearing in to my car, plus I didn't want to be without the car for that long.

FWIW, I wasn't sure how the rear comes apart to get to the sunshade. Just winging it it took me probably 45 minutes to get that rear package tray out. Two of the 10mm bolts holding the sunshade in are not easy to get to (close to the window, not a lot of space to work). It probably took me a bit longer to get the tray back in, and then I had to position it a bit as it needs to slide in to a slot otherwise it interferes with the operation of the sunshade (shade wouldn't go up). The good news is the rattle was gone with I got done. I didn't read the TSB though so I'm not sure if there's more I should have done while I was in there.... I basically added Dynamat on and below the sunshade frame.

Get on their case. This took my dealer the same day to fix, and they did another TSB with it. And an oil change.

Mine does the same but only when the shade is down. Did figure it out for a while but that's when it does. I'm not mechanical, so will wait till I get more for them to. I haven't anything fix there yet but my dealer gave me the first free oil change and sent me a calendar with a picture of my car the day I bought it. So right now got nothing bad to say. mval

Fun! Went to pick it up today (day 5 I may add). Delay was they did the TSB and it didn't work and they were talking to Ford about how else to eliminate the rattle. Anyway I get there figure I will try the sunshade, so I hit the button and hooray...it goes up and stays up. Hit the button to retract and it is like it is blocked and just goes back up. So they are keeping it.

Yes they gave me a wonderful VW Beetle in the meantime. In case anyone is wondering the novelty of that wears off pretty quick and it is not much of a replacement.

So, sent my car to work with my wife to have SEVERE rattle in rear deck repaired(again)
When on her way, the BLIS system acted up as it consistently does. They informed me that I will just have to live with the rattle, there is nothing more they can do, but they replaced the right side mirror, unfortunately the painted mirror cover was installed incorrectly & blew off on the highway, this car is a *************, if ford quality continues down this road, and service follows suite, they are in big trouble, going back foreign tommorrow

Sorry to hear about your issues with your Taurus. We have a contact at the plant who deals with these kinds of issues. When I get to work 2morw I'll try and get he's number. Cause this just sounds ridiculus. I've heard of the shade issue, we switched vendors and that problem has since been solved. What was your mirror doing? As far as it falling off, your dealership should be ashamed of themselves. My friend installs them, it's like 3 bolts. How some1 ***** that up is mind boggling

I had the same issue took them a week to fix mine because all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put humpy back together again. When I got it all the fasteners that held the upholstery around the brake light and all the way down to the rear speaker deck on both sides were not fastened. All in all it was in the shop for almost two weeks no loaner car and none of the issues fixed. I still hear a creaking sound but I think it is the upholstery on the rear deck is causing it not bad though. Now is someone can figure out a way to fix my sirius radio lineup I would be fine.

I have a rattle coming from the back deck during different songs. The frustrations you all are having getting the dealer to fix it is keeping me from getting it fixed.

Try shutting surround sound off. My headliner rattled horribly until I turned this off, and it sounded better too.

That did help but it's still there a little even in stereo. You'd think you'd be able to use both modes without an issue.

Have you tried raising the sunshade to see if the rattle goes away with the sunshade up? If not, the rattle may not be the sunshade. I had a rattle I thought was the sunshade, even though it didn't completely go away with the sunshade up. Removed the sunshade, applied dampening material on the package tray, didn't fix the rattle. Then I was sure it was in my passenger door. Took the door panel off, found what I thought was the source, fixed it, no change to the rattle. Ultimately the rattle ended up being a wiring harness above above the passenger sunvisor, up near the sunroof. Fixed that and now my car is rattle free. I was initially convinced the noise was MUCH further back in the car than it really was.

Here here Rod. i experienced the same thing. I was also sure the rattle was from the rear of the car but it turned out to be that harness that sits on the roof liner on the passenger side. It can be repaired without pulling the roof liner down via the sunroof area.

That's how I approached it as well, as mentioned in this thread. My "temporary" fix is probably going to become more permanent. It's been quite cold here and there are absolutely no rattles in the car, so I'm pretty sure all is now well. Past experience would suggest rattles get worse when it's cold.

Hi, glad to see this thread still going. My issue was 100% the sunshade. This is easily tested, I just popped in "Ya'll want a single" by korn and "boom boom boom" in the beginning of the song becomes "rattle rattle rattle." To recap the dealer did fix this after a week and it seems to be resolved.

HOWEVER for those living in fear I will share my ad hoc fix that I used before taking it to the dealer which if I had known would be such a pain perhaps I would have made permanent. Bear with me I know squat about cars. The sunshade in the rear sits basically on two metal posts from what I can tell. Those already had little foam stickers on them I guess to prevent rattle. However, they did not work, as evidenced by if I played a bass heavy song and push down on the top of the sunshade, the rattle resolved.

What I ended up doing was taking a couple of my wife's Christmas foam stickers from Micheal's and I put those one each on those posts which support the sunshade. This 100% fixed the problem, though I did not test moving the sunshade up or down with the stickers in place. If cut down some I would assume they would work.

So if you are having some rattle issues and fear going to the dealer then try that. Get some foam stickers and stick em in there then see how it goes.

I had the rattle with or without surround on. Still now, having it on sounds crappy. I have however taken to using ESP or w/e (the sound increasing with speed feature at level 7) and I must say the stereo sounds 5x better. Loud with some real oomf behind it. And of course now no rattle. Those are just my thoughts on this silly issue, hardly seems worthy of weeks in the shop and I'm sorry to hear mine was not an isolated case.
