For awhile now, my car would just crank over and not fire. I finally got it to fire up and it runs good. Car idles fine, you drop it in reverse to leave drive way, Still running good. You will drive it for a few minutes and you come up to a stop sign, Car dies. Fires right back up!! It just wont idle, It will if you keep your foot on the pedal very slightly. As soon as you take it off, it dies  . If someone can help me out here that would br great. Im trying to sell this vehicle and the guy wont buy it unless it idles with out a doubt. PLEASEE!!!!!:hail:

Sounds like an IAC problem.... It's on the back side of the Throttle Body, its either a short or long cylinder looking thing.... that has a two wire connector that is facing the firewall.

I'd say pull it out and give it a good cleaning. You could test it to see if it is in fact the IAC, by pulling the connector out while the car is running... If it does not die, then you have found your problem.

Just cause unplugging it killed the engine dosent mean it's opening and closing reliably.

Idle-Air Bypass.

Don't use brake cleaner. There is a product called MAF cleaner. It's similar but won't harm the electronics.

I am not sure if our cars have an EGR or not? On a similar problem on my 97 Chrysler Sebring, I did everything to get the damn thing to idle. No go. Then, an engineer from South Dakota told me about how to take a coin and block the EGR tube. Voila! It runs like a charm. Now if I could only sell the piece of #@%^&*#. Maybe this will help, maybe not.

I suppose it could be the EGR...If it's a 3.2 it has EGR if it is a california 3.0 It has EGR also.

49 state 3.0MTX do not have EGR.
