Hi,
I joined this forum a while ago when I bought my SHO but haven't been active for a while. I have two problems one is the waterpump the other is the transmission. My SHO has 150k and I'm almost certain the transmission has never been serviced. I changed the fluid several times but resolved that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. I also changed the ignition coils and sparkplugs. I plan to drop the whole subframe out of the car as it would make the waterpump and transmission job much easier. But then I started looking at the waterpump/timing chain parts which was like somewhere around $500 for everything and a rebuilt transmission the cheapest of which I could find was $2200. I decided to just get a lower miles car that had been wrecked.
I found a salvage 2013 SHO with 86k and I am having it inspected to make sure the transmission fluid is at least pink before I buy it I already know it runs and drives. It has a salvage title and the whole front clip is smashed off so I have asked them to look at the subframe and see if there is any damage to it.
I am getting the alldata factory disassembly procedure for both cars to verify that they are compatible and my plan is to remove the 13 subframe and install it in the 12. I may also transplant the PTU and RDU as well. Does anyone know of any reason why this wont work? I don't think they made any significant changes to the engine or trans from 12 to 13.
I am also looking at few other model years and if anyone knew of any problems I may have with trying to transplant from a 14-17 model year car I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
