Arrived Tuesday! This is an amazing vehicle! Huge power, handling is tight, virtually no body roll and most of all perfect for my soccer mom!

Looks like a X between the Edge and the Flex. Works for me. I like this new breed of Explorers, tho I liked the first gen as well.

I miss the old body on frame truck like explorers, and when the sports where a 2 door, short wheelbase model. These are VERY nice cars, just wish ford didn't use the explorer badge.

With all the problems you had with the SHO, I'm surprised you went with the same drivetrain.

Same Ecoboost V6 as in the SHO. 365 horse too which the Flex and Lincoln don't have for some reason.

From what I understand, the engines are identical, just rated differently. Flex & Lincoln's on 87 & SHO & Explorer on 93. It also weighs more by a few hundred lbs. Great Looker though!

Sat in one at Homestead Ford 400. In talking with Brand Manager for these products, the Flex has 4" more rear seat room (Middle Row) than the Explorer. Would jump on this in a second if it had more interior room. Our Flex can hold 6 - 6 footers. Also wish they would offer an interior color in the Explorer Sport besides BLACK.

I want one, but won't be getting one. I'm very interested in the way the AWD and diffs work on it, maybe if they're better something can be adapted to the Flex.

So if you run 93, does the factory timing and boost change to give you the 365? Or, if I decided to run 87 on either of mine, are they now 350 hp cars? I guess I just don't get that, but there must be an explaination.

Interior room up front is fine, We have 3 kids across the back seat and the rear seat will probably never get used. By the time our kids are old enough to be to big for it, it will be long gone by then anyway.

Oh and my interior is not all black. I went with the brownish leather in the seats and doors. Looks geat!

The engine controller adjusts timing by knock sensors. It is designed to adjust to various gas, as even though pump says 93... we never know what we are actually getting. Boost is also affected by the ECM. Another factor in performance is the MCT(Manifold Charge Temp) which also affects timing and boost. So... if it is hot and you are running 93, and your engine is very hot under the hood, you won't make the same HP, as if you were running 87 and it is cold out. The HP & torque numbers are under controlled conditions at the same temp with different octane gas.

You are lucky you can get your kids to sit still all together in one seat. When my kids got into their pre-teen years, we had to have a van with center buckets and split them all up. When they got out of hand, I would just go after the closest one... LOL Now I deal with grandchildren... MUCH EASIER!!!!!!!

Glad you could get an interior with brown accents. Didn't know about it. How about a pix...

I agree with you there! I really like the looks of the new Explorer and considering what probably 95% of the owners use them for, I think Ford was smart for going the path they did with the vehicle and the Explorer name. I especially think they (finally) went the right path with the "Sport" designation. Congratulations on your new toy!

AOL Autos has the 0-60 time at 5.5. Not too shabby for an SUV. Tune, intake, exhaust and it would drop into the 4s real fast. Wann talk about a sleeper. I haven't seen an SUV with this power and times since the typhoon and cyclone.

With a V6 sure. The Cherokee SRT8 runs to 60 in 4.5 and does 13.1 in the quarter bone stock!! I love the Explorer Sport but I'd get embarrassed at a light against one of those!

I have driven the SRT8 Cherokee, its stupid fast yes, but it probably is no where near as comfortable as that Ex, AND its a thirsty *****.. Not exactly what I call a great daily driver commuter like above ex.

Looks great. Did you special order? I've yet to see any at my local lots as we've contemplated purchasing as well. But want to drive first before I order one.

According to Ford Brand Manager (at Homestead) they have been shipping since October. They had a black one with black interior at race... Seats seemed firmer than EB Flex next to it, but might have been seat color... LOL! Very nice looking.
