As the title states. Found a seller who offers springs with a front and rear drop of 2.25 inches. Has it been done to a SHO before? Does anything need to be adjusted / modified to make them work? Also, would this drop be practical in street application? I just think that it'd be one sexy looking SHO with that ride height! :dribble: Comments / Opinions welcome!

Sounds good to me. I live in ***-Hole City, so practical would be, to be able to get around the city without ripping the front bumper cover off, or introducing the oil pan to the pavement.

You'd hit the subframe before the oil pan in most cases. A drop that radical, you're goin to want to shim up your power steering rack. Also, you're going to have issues with the CVs being at too extreme an angle.

Not to mention you run into serious camber alignment issues.

You can only go so far until you phisically run out of room for the strut/spring assembly in the strut towers when trying to align such a drastically lowered SHO. Lower you go, the further out the strut mounts must be moved in the towers in order to correct the change in camber.

more rubber, more HP.....
This one is my daily driver, dropped 2.5" using Moog CC's and Koni's..I think I cut 2 coils off the front and 1.5 off the rear..

shoplus.jpg

The rack is shimmed up 3/8"..
The front camber plate attatchments are drilled off..
so I can set the front camber to negative 2.0 degrees (doubles as a part-time wanna-be autocross car)..
but it can be set to 0 degrees if desired..

Does it bottom out.. yes, on occasion.
Is it bumpy.. yes, always.
Have I slammed the subframe into bumps.. yes, many times..

Is it practical.. depends on you.

If you don't mind slowing down over speed bumps, rough roads, taking angled approaches on steep driveways, and possibly shortened lifespan of your struts, wheel bearings, bushings, and CV joints, by all means do it..

I'm willing to put up with all that because I LOVE the way the car looks and handles. :) .. and I don't mind fixing things when they break..

I have SHO Shop linear springs. I have about 2 -2.5 inch drop in the front and about 1.5 to 2.0 inches in the rear. I have 3 inches of clearance between the bottom of the bumper cover. I have to creep over speed bumps or my subframe connectors will hit the top of the speed bump. I haven't bottomed out, but I have had my tires rub. I do scrape the bottom of the bumper on everything.

Dropping a car that much is fun to drive with the exception of driving through a city under construction, u'll end up looking like a drunk driver trying to miss all the raised manhole covers and such.

...and then you lose your ATX pan from one of them you don't miss OUCH

That's a daily routine driving on these streets. In fact, I've been pulled over twice for aggressive driving (trying to dodge the ***-holes), but I think the bad out weighs the good on this one. Too bad, I could've gotten the springs for less then half of the price of what's currently on the market NIB.

The springs the seller has are probably the Sprint springs. Those and the SHOShop Linears are the lowes made. Most people buy the Moog Cargo coils and cut a couple coils as they are non-progressive and are very stiff. I am one of the few who has a Coilover setup so my car sits low as I want it too. The Koni struts help keep the car from bottoming out. You can barely push the car down when it is sitting there. Very stiff setup.
