1989 SHO no codes is this normal?

Car's been perfect since I bought it. Then I go a no start situation every great while then twice in the same month. Now I have a no start condition,had it towed to mechanic supposedly it was crank case sensor still no start. Had it dismantled watch them check gap and reassemble. Now at this point I had chosen to have water pump crank sensor and belts replaced. DIS Been replaced
all plugs, wires. I have all electrical parts working radio lights fuel pump I get spark at plugs floods out if I try to to start it over and over. Now at first I noticed my clock digits stayed on 24 hours a day but not the light now I have no digits displayed short? Cranks cranks and cranks. I live 25 miles from the nearest Ford dealership but just about ready to have it towed there just to pull codes. I have acquired an extra ecm but wanted to know if I was going down the wrong path. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated! Thank you

OK Ok I thought the step by step instructions to pull codes set me up very well. BUT with a jumper wire my check engine light does not blink. With a volt-meter I get a constant signal no sweeping motion positive I have jumper placed correctly
Any Ideas?

Thank you, Cerberus.....enlightening as always...

Change out the ECM, as it really can't hurt anything, as long as it's the same ECM you pulled out.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...before you do, has your check engine light come on at all? If so, then it would be high time to learn to pull the codes yourself, and save you an assload of money. the procedure's outlined somewhere on this board, or you can mosey on over to www.shotimes.com where I know step by step directions are posted.

Now...I'm pretty sure the no-crank condition has little to do with your clock. Chances are, your clock just went kaput. If your check engine light's not coming on, I'd suggest unplugging the battery and swapping out that ECM.

By the way, have you changed out the cam position sensor yet? That'll screw up spark delivery just as quick as a crank sensor will. I've never had one create a no-start condition, but I've heard of some who have.

just a few thoughts...

It's such a pain in the ass it's stupid...:oogle::

Actually, it takes about 3 minutes out of your life, and the only tools you need is a piece of wire or paper clip, a piece of paper, and a pen.

Oh...and make sure you can count....
