I have an 89 SHO and measurements are telling me that the battery cable gauge is 3/0. Is this normal?? Why the heck is it so big? Is this OEM or aftermarket? I cant tell. This is the negative cable and the cable from battery to starter relay. I have to replace the terminals on the wires and have already severed them thinking that I could just roll to Advance and get replacements.

I don't remember but I wouldn't go any smaller than 4 and would consider 3 or 2 gauge because there is no overkill in ground wiring. There will be issues with not big enough.

I hear you, but this is big f' off 000 wire. I measured and am practically beside myself because it's not easy to find. Im trying to do a killswitch and have no idea the amp draw that occurs. I know it cant be too bad, but im a bit lost.

You have a marine supply store nearby? Those are good places to buy cable by the foot but they are not as cheap as you might want. Hopefully someone else has the size correct on here but, in a pinch, you can always go to a junkyard and get a look at a Taurus oem wire, if one is on the lot, and go from there.
