1/4 times first and 2nd gen

I was wondering if anyone knew the 1/4 mile times for 89-95 SHOs. I was also curious what an automatic 93-95 3.2 does in the 1/4. Did emmissions make a difference from 89 to 95....besides cosmetics....what are the major differences between 89-95 SHOs.

No real difference in times.

Fastest known, bone stock SHO was a 94 MTX. It went a 14.6@97 MPH.

Average in stock form is anywhere from a 14.8-15.1 (5 speed), with a good driver.

Automatics (ATX) Range anywhere from 15.2-15.8.

89's are the lightest, so technically should be the fastest...but the 94 got that (known) record.

If you want a 1/4 mile car, shop elsewhere. =)

I hear ya about if I want a 1/4 mile car...get something else ...I just love SHOs they were ahead of their time. Besides a high revving gnarly Yamaha motor...what else is gnarly about 89-95 SHOs? I'm just starting to research and gather info...so I'm somewhat in the dark. Thanks!

The SHO motor has the secondary runner system to keep the torque band flat.

The SHO was basically a Taurus with all the options. The early Gen's had larger sway bars.

Not to much. They are a ***** old Taurus with lots of discontinued parts.

That doesn't keep to many of us away from them though

From what i've read on here synchros and main bearings are discontinued.

My black 92 had full black leather seats when I bought it. I recently replaced them with 50/50. I'm curious if it wasn't an option to get full leather seats and someone put them in.

Every year came with 50/50 but full Leather was an option. Full black leather in a 92 would be normal.

You usually won't need a main bearing, but if you do, oversize bearings are available and you must hit up the machine shop and have them line bore the block.

Just to be douchey, Ryan ran 14.5 in the Opal Frost 94. Cali emissions might hinder performance too.
