The wires in between the dis module and first tube. On the inside of the manifold. I had the single wire disconnect on me the other day, made the car run rugh, like the timming was advanced or something.

yeah, it's the ground wire for the crank sensor. Both of those plugs go to the crank sensor, actually; the one with many wires is the signal and return for the CKP and the single, barely-sheathed wire is the shield ground. I can't tell you that the ground being disconnected will make it act funny, but I can't tell you that it won't. The ignition system can do some awful strange things at times...
