Catless Y-Pipe'rs: Need Some Info

I installed a NESHO catless Y-pipe weekend before last, and ever since I've had a weird noise. It sounds like it could be either an exhaust leak or a rattling heat shield, but I can't tell for sure. It's only there when the car is idling in gear and about 2500-3500 RPMs; not between idle and 2500 and not above 3500 RPMs. I've taken the Y-pipe off and resealed it with Copper RTV twice at both the exhaust manifolds and at the flex pipe, and had absolutely no change in the noise. I used OE Ford exhaust gaskets at the flex pipe, and I'm currently using two gaskets there instead of one.

Anyone else had this problem?

I think I may have found the problem. I noticed the heat shield was close to the undercarriage at one point, and there is a wear spot on the rustproofing from the heat shield rubbing against it. I bent the shield out of the way, and I'll check it in the morning on my way to work.

Paul, I actually have two of those gaskets - bought them from Rock Auto. I noticed the interior diameter of the gaskets was significantly smaller than the OE gaskets, so that's why I bought the OE gaskets from Ford. If you want them, you can take them when you get the catted Y-pipe from me.

I'll have to check the part number again. When I got mine I took the OE gasket in and the diameter is the same.
