Edit, the origin heads here are junk and probably will be trashed. I got a used head set and will be swapping them in 7/11/26. Pics start here

Are there any good writeups on doing heads? I have a spare set from my original engine that need some love. I know there are guides on doing the valve lash, but what about honest to goodness teardown/rebuilds?

haha, yup. Sometimes I forget I make them, and then find them again when searching for the same thing.

I think the heads are in about the same condition as they were back then. Just kroil'd the crap out of them. Probably let them soak for a while, as I look up rebuilding videos and walkthroughs.

No idea on the first question, no on the second.

I need to take a closer look at the cams, but they may be okay. The valves are rusted in their current positions though, which could be a problem.

Looks like you need about 5 gallons of rust remover, 4 drums of elbow grease, 3 miracles, 2 new heads, and a someone else to do the job for you XD

I feel your pain though. These engines are so unique that nobody will work on them.

I assume there are no inserts to step down a thread size on the spark plug well, I'll just have to use a larger spark plug in that side?

Helicoil offers spark plug thread repair inserts.
