Yeah the dealership charges 18 to 21 hours of labor and usually at $175 to $250 and hour and it doesn’t take that long to do it, i have a friend at a ford dealership that showed me all the secrets on how to get it done without removing engine or recovering the AC system.

It should be a 4 to 5 hr job at shop with the right tools if I have done my research well. They must think their customers are stupid to charge for 18+ hrs!

yeah i would say 6 to 8 everyone will give you a hard time with something. I would also recommend replacing the pump with a OEM Ford parts because of the few I’ve done about 3 of them were autozone water pumps and they all failed within 3 years.

I had the exact same issue on my radio in my 2012 sho, they are a little different but mostly the same system, I know it sounds strange and boy did it take forever to figure out but it ended up being the dumb little antenna module under the center console was bad. I actually might have one in a box that came off of 2013 in the garage.

Can you clear something up for me? Are you having issues with the timing chain water pump leaking, and power steering not working or something or is this being shopped around to do these because it’s time for those items?
The reason I ask is this, yes, it’s might be wise to replace the timing chains and water pump and power steering parts due to mileage, but a guy I met a few years ago who runs one of those executive taxi services has several MKS’s. He only buys, low mileage ones with eco-boost, all-wheel-drive systems, so the same as the sho. He’s very religious about fluid changes and flushes with all his employees who beat the crap out of those cars I’m sure, and only uses synthetic in everything but he gets 3 to 400,000 miles out of his cars before he has any major issues. When he has a major issue, he sells the car broken, but he won’t do timing chains, and like because of it being a major repair bill. I think he said he had two or three cars go down due to timing chains but all of them had over 300,000 miles on them over the years. He said it only cost a few hundred dollars to replace all the ware items on the suspension parts wise and I know if you can do brake job you can replace the suspension pieces. That’s the advantage of these cars also being a fleet/cop car is brakes and suspension pieces tend to be cheap and readily available. A few years ago I sold a motor and trans out of a 2013 that I had parted out to a guy. I ended up becoming friends with also who had a little over 300,000 miles on his Sho when the Trans went out so he was going to put the motor and Trans both that I was selling, as they were the same year into his car as I only had 80,000 miles on the motor and Trans I was selling for $2500, I asked him if he was going to replace the timing chains and water pump and such he said no he also runs Synthetic oil and flushes the cooling system every 30K or so and that never had an issue on his car so wasn’t worried about it. I don’t know how many miles he has on it currently but he’s been driving it for the last four years since I sold him that motor and Trans with apparently no issues.
So my point is if you don’t have any issues and you do keep up on all your maintenance and use good fluids I would just send it, but none of this that I just said matters if your water pumps leaking your power steering is broken, and your timing chains are screwed That’s why I ask.

So, I guess I've been blessed with the stock "reconfigure" job the audio company did on my 2011 back in 2019 when I bought it. There was no aftermarket head available at the time...and it cost a few grand for the job with the inclusion of the higher end security system.
During the job, They had the car in the shop several different days.
But after all said n done, the only trouble I've had with system (SYNC 1 I believe), is the occasional fuse blowing if I'm really pounding the tunes and it's a really hot day. But that's more of the AMPS protecting themselves, and has nothing to do with SYNC.
I use an iphone SE, and anytime I wanna listen to music, there's never an issue.
As well, I occasionally run my ipad through the system for sound while watching a movie or whatever.
It does work via bluetooth, however I still prefer to plug the firewire into it so the phone / ipad stays charged.
Having a stock dash has always been a preference for me, and it looks and sounds real slick.
So, did I just get lucky in going that route, with the shop guys actually knowing their s***?

Sync 1 was decent at the time but the lack of support/updates allowed the gremlins to continue.
sorry but SF area is still amazing. I hate going to central CA. Its like going home to central IL but everything costs more
