So wanting to keep my other post separated, wanted to ask a question about a new PTU I just got installed on my 2010 Ford Taurus SHO yesterday.

Is there any sort of break in procedure or process in regards to the PTU? Driving habits? Acceleration every so often like an engine break in? Any help is always appreciated

Drive it like you stole it
Don’t know for sure but wouldn’t think it has a break in period. Curious how much it cost? And I hope like heck it has a drain plug. Just changed my fluid in one of my SHOs and cuss every time ….

treat it just like a new engine breakin. moderate level of throttle, allow engine to come to operating temp first. after a 1000 miles or so, start normal driving.

but first, i would doublecheck fluid level. that is a primary reason why ptus fail early, yes, even new ptus.

after 6 months or 5,000 miles, would advise fresh fluid in the ptu to get all the breakin metals out of there, again, just like with a new engine.

then it really is go time.
