Trying to slide in snow

I'm not sure, it's been a while since I've used forscan, and I have a 2018, so I wouldn't be much help anyway.

I gave up on the FORScan and took my car out for a drive. I did a couple second gear pulls and my abs light came on and disabled traction and stability weirdly enough so I guess it worked out. No idea what caused it. No check engine light either.

Stability made no difference sadly. Seems as though this car can’t slide unless it’s on ice. Pretty disappointing going from my STI to this. Though I suspected this would be the case with haldex awd.

I don’t see it. It takes me to motorcraft where I put in the VIN.
As-Built data is specific to each car. Your As-Built data is different then another 2010. Put in your VIN, put in the security check, then it will give you the files.

Takes some practice. I have a non PP '15 and can get it to step out in the snow. You can even get it to "drift" through the corners. Get it in an empty snow covered parking lot and practice. True, not Subbie capable, had an '02 bug eye, but it can be done.

I’ve gotten it sideways a couple times but it only seems to do it on super slick surfaces, otherwise the front end just plows. With stability control off I couldn’t get it to power through to do a donut. When I see videos of them sliding it looks easy from the outside. Makes me question if my awd isn’t fully working or if my skill is lacking.

I have a 17 non pp and a 13 pp. The 17 with the TCS off is not the same for power to the back wheels. Even when I tuned it doesn't seem like it sends the same power out back as the 13

Interesting, I can’t imagine that the pp would make a difference with the awd power distribution. Unless they changed the haldex system in later year models. I know ford did quite a few tweaks to the SHO platform over the years.

Bare in mind the non pps have longer legs, the gear ratio is lower in the pp cars. Even turning off all the nannies it's still front wheel biased and heavy, in absence of power to break the rear wheels you need inertia and maybe some harder compound tires to slide. Slick surface will get you sideways but probably be difficult to control at speed. The gear ratio and baby sitters I think are the real issue though.

It's sketchy but I'm not giving up lol. Push the ebrake all the way down, push to unlock and don't let it come back up and boom, drift brake. Buddy showed me that trick on a grand prix gtp so I don't know how it'll work in the taurus, worth a shot?

I won't talk you in to it and I hear you on the afraid of breaking something but I will say I did it on dry with an old 93 t bird (rwd, irs) and didn't hurt it. The way our ebrakes work is ideal for the job and I believe the new mustangs electric drift brake uses similar calipers. The piston "screws" inside the assembly, my advice if you try it is to check your cables and grease them if you're worried about it and then check the function, do a few slow runs see how it feels. With the pedal on the unlock swing it should move freely to allow for feathering, lift on the throttle before you brake so you're not fighting the drivetrain.
