It recently snowed in my area and I wanted to try having some fun in the snow by doing some donuts. The car seems to behave funny and won’t step out out all no matter what I do. The rear wheels are definitely getting power and when I look on YouTube of other SHO’s doing donuts they seem to have no issue sliding around. I have noticed some clunking sounds as well as some jerking motions in the rear end on sharp turns over loose surfaces. Could there potentially be something wrong with my car’s awd or is there something I’m missing with my driving skill. My car is also a non pp but I feel like stability control wouldn’t limit it too much.

Go to the L side menu under drivers assistance and uncheck the box traction control. Since you are a non pp you can only spin tires. When you come into a slid the advance traction will take over. In a non pp there is no way to turn it off.

I had traction control off. Is there any way to override the esc without pulling abs out?

According to the owners manual there’s two fuses for abs one for pump and valve. I believe the 2010-2012 fuses are different as well.

the plug for TCS/ESC is under the radio console forward of the shifter, the PPs have a TCS button inside that little cubby that you have to push twice rapidly I believe, non PPs usually have parking assist, I'm told rare 13s had both, but if there is a plug for the TSC button it would be under that panel

Tscesc

this one has the parking assist, on PP they have a TCS button instead, if your car is wired for it, the pinout on the plug going to this switch will have more wires than pins in the switch since they share the same housing. If the wires are there you could in theory wire in a momentary switch to the 2 wires not being used. I have an early production '13 non PP and the wiring wasn't there but you might get lucky. I believe the ECM cuts power to the throttle if it senses the e-brake or regular brake engaged while giving it throttle. as for pulling the fuse and letting her eat, your dash will be lit like a Christmas tree but I cant think of a reason it wouldn't work unless the ECM cuts throttle when it senses a slide, with how involved the ESC system is it wouldn't surprise me if its integrated into several systems.

I've decided I'm gonna try to program the esc to turn off with Forscan, and if that doesn't work I'm probably just gonna call it quits on trying to get this car to slide. Thanks for the this info though.

Thanks for that I'll have to order a forscan tool here soon. Quick question though, maybe you might know the answer. Is there any reason why Ford did advance esc off only on pp's? It bugs the **** out of me that that I that's not a standard feature on a "super high output" vehicle. My 14' focus st base model could turn off esc and didn't need the st3 trim level to do it.

No idea, maybe it's Ford's way of saying that if you want to play, you gotta pay for the pp lol

I guess, such weird thing to paywall in my opinion but maybe it made them some extra money, who knows.

The thing that bugs me is that the cars aren't even wired for it, if you're going to have a pay to play option why not add it at the dealer level too and do a button add and computer adjustment package. But I don't think Ford had any illusions of investing in to this platform any more than initial hype and moving the PI program. once the explorer was deemed more successful it seems the Taurus just faded away. this is of course just my opinion based on observations

I'm not sure, it's been a while since I've used forscan, and I have a 2018, so I wouldn't be much help anyway.

I’ve been trying to find this information, and every post I find they just say they did but don’t provide any info on how. I can’t find any as built pp configurations on this year model online at all. Super frustrating.
