For cheap, it's hard to beat the Z3 Powerstop drilled/slotted rotors. I didn't see a huge improvement but they look cool and my factory rotors were warped. For good brakes, the Yellow Stuff will stop pretty well but be prepared to clean brake dust every single week (maybe twice a week) and they'll wear out pretty quick.

I like to use the saying an old man once told me. Either go first class or 3rd class, but never 2nd class. To me the Z3 rotors are 3rd class (as good or better than stock and cheap enough). The Yellow Stuff pads fall around 2nd class. Unless I end up doing a big brake upgrade I'm just going to stick with OEM type pads for my car.

If your brake rotors feel like they're warped or are warping, make sure your lug nuts are tightened evenly to spec.
Yes, it can cause problems on occasion.

The Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors are good. I run those with the OEM PP pads.

However, after 40K spirited miles (lol) they are pretty warped. I go weeks without driving the SHO but, my GF mainly drives it now and started complaining. I went online to buy them again, and they have pretty much doubled in price. I was seeing $317 just for the front rotors and their complete trash z23 pads. Absurd.

So I went with Detroit Axle drilled and slotted rotors for $180 shipped to my door. I will throw them on this weekend with new PP pads report back.

I have no complaints with the Powerstop D/S rotors. However, I put R1 concepts on my Edge and other than the black zinc turning grey after like two weeks I like them better. Although not staying black, the hats still haven’t rusted after two’ish years and it stops like a champ.

I think proper break in is the most important no matter what you go with.

Installed the 170 thermostat, .26 spark plugs and 3 bar sensor. Went to put the GH tune on the car to find the preloaded tune was for the wrong vehicle. Put the 2 bar sensor back on (car did not like the 3 bar sensor w/o a tune). Those back plugs are a real sob, 3/4s of the battle was just trying to unlatch the wires from the coil packs, heat had made the clips stiff and brittle. Called GH and waiting to hear back on getting the right tune.

The preloaded tune from SCT? They don't have any preloaded tunes for the SHO. When I bought my X4 Power Pack from GH, I had to download the tuning sheet, fill it out, and then they sent the tune. You download the tune, upload it to the tuner, then commit it to the car. Check your spam folder. Right after you ordered, you should have got a download link for the tuning sheet. They need your car's specific strategy code before you can get your tune file.

Thank you! Going to check this out as soon as I get home from work!

Went another round at the track tonight. Took on a slightly molded Elantra N and after talking to the owner he said hes pushing a little over 300 hp. Was pretty dead even and we had fun. After a couple runs of him beating me, he grabbed a passenger and managed to gain enough weight for me to keep a hair ahead of him after beating him on reaction. All in all a fun night.

Nor am I but on a spicy e30 tune there aren’t many normal street cars that F with you in the 1/8. If you’re getting beat it’s usually on the big end.

Home Depot BOV “mod” lol. The Mrs. put in a work order for some floating shelves in the oldest’s bedroom, and I needed some consumables and laquer, so went to the HD. I happened to catch the chair leg caps out of the corner of my eye in one of the aisles and said, “why not?”.

It’s cool I guess. Something different to hold me over until more part money makes itself disposable. Cracked some crystals in my livewire, so I get to buy that again too . I can still read some PIDs if I don’t have my scan tool on me, and return to stock if I need to, but that’s about it. Can’t change config, or see tune files. Sucks.

Daytime DRL install today, nothing like working in the garage in 107 real feel heat. The install went fairly well, tested the install, the DRL look great, the trigger for left and right turn signal, only the right works - figure my splice on the passenger side wasn't good. Get the car started, idiot lights lit up like a Xmas tree. ABS - TC - pretty much anything - car ran - was heat exhausted so pulled in garage. Waiting on a response from Dan to reply will keep all informed. I know there is a thread about issues people had, then fixed.

Installed Front pp shocks today along with new rotors and pp motorcraft pads. Was pretty easy to do shocks front and rear. Kept the H&R springs on. Still feels horrible but slightly better. Might be time for calipers soon. Rubber is getting aged on the piston. I have the wilwoods sitting in storage. Maybe one day, just cant find a good brake pad for them like the pp motorcraft pads that bite good without dust.
Raybesto S groove technology… time will tell lol

Slotted rotors dont warp as much as drilled. Heavy ass car, see how long they last. R1 geo met or whatever they call them have done me good for 5 years. Just their pads that are crap

I feel you on the heat, and there was barely any wind yesterday whatsoever to help. Went to start grilling yesterday afternoon, opened the door and decided to wait for a little bit haha. Hope you get the DRL issue sorted out, anything dealing with electricity and wiring has always been my bane.

I have a fan on the wall which helped... however here in the SE... whoaaa. Yeah I threw my hands up, I am hoping the answer is fix the passenger splice... though I suspect it won't be that easy.

The ball is in @DriveBright and Dan's court.
Dan is quick - and pinpointed the issue, fuse - I left the 5amp in the adapter - should of ALSO plugged in 10amp. I believe I saw others say that Fuse 92 was the one to swap.

"Sounds like you did not put the 10 amp fuse that you removed from the fuse box into our fuse adapter plug that plugs back into the fuse box. Or you plugged the fuse adapter into the wrong fuse slot."

I installed the Detroit Axle Rotors and on a whim, threw on their performance ceramic pads. After 500 miles (I drove to Dumbfuckistan about 360 miles from my house) the pads are just okay. They are quiet and stop decent. However, I dont like how much more pedal I have to use compared to the stock OEM PP pads. However, my GF likes them, and I since I don't drive the SHO much anymore I will leave them on.
