I thought I'd post this here as a reference for axle shafts in the sho platform.
(For now this is just a rough placeholder until I gather a bit more information.)
I was getting a bit of vibration in the front passenger side wheel. Quick inspection revealed that the hanger bearing for the intermediate shaft is starting to go south.
Like most Ford components of the years there's been various iterations of the drive axles.
Now for the SEL and lower models. The axle can in some cases be at one piece unit. Meaning the intermediate shaft and the CV axle are manufactured together as a complete unit construction. As far as I can tell. If you need a new CV axle you need a new intermediate shaft. The hangar bracket used for this style of passenger side front axle is different from from the SHO. Due to the larger hanger bearing.
