1995 3.0L the heater hose between the back of the block & the tube leading to the heater core blew out, so I'm using the opportunity to basically replace all rubber cooling-system hoses.

Ordered some Gates hoses, 18020 & a piece of STI DH1 from Oreilly which should take care of my immediate problem.

But I came across the EVAP hose, this stuff is turning to dust as I manipulate it. What are you guys using for this?

Thanks, dude, I like the colored-hose approach, it matches the colored thumbscrew hose clamps I'm trying to implement at the same time. ;)

I use gasoline rated vacuum tubing because I am too cheap for the silicone stuff...

Wow, Frederick replied! I'm just now seeing this. ;)

I ended up doing half & half... bought some black silicone from Ontrack (local speedshop) which was crossmember to solenoid, then used fuel line solenoid to throttle body.

Took it to Bandimere today (had Steve drive :) ) but the CEL comes on 10 minutes into highway trips... 172 & 542, both fuel control... my guess is CCRM.......

But you don't get 2-digit and 3-digit codes, they should be 3-digit codes on that car. Please check again.

Phuque, I hate it when I don't pay close enough attention...

172 H1 (in the book) Fuel Control
542 J90 Fuel Pump Circuit

~~

I just today swapped CCRMs with the other silver Taurus, I noticed it's a D code and not an M... it works in that car, so it should work in this one....

Then will come a starter motor(s) needing attention, I guess....

From the page below, code 172 has to do with the oxygen sensor

172 (R,M) Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single, Right orr Rear HO2S - Fuel control

SHO Phoenix Project (archive.org)

You want to stick with the same M code or D code CCRM, there was a thread discussing the possibility of swapping them, but I don't recall that being a good idea. Somethings may not work properly.

This is odd, they are both Ds, I thought I was supposed to have M?

Boy, it's been a while since I was last into these cars....

94 and 95 MTX cars used a D code, the earlier MTX cars used the M code.
Boy, I'm starting to really hate these frikin' cars....

The fuel pump stays on for toooooo long (sometimes!!!) upon shutdown. My first thoughts are CCRM but this is a replacement (not really known to be good, but i think it is) and the same problem still exists.

~

111 KOEO

172 KOER = H1 = Fuel Control in the book. These results are from a code reader thingie that came with the car

~~

KOER, that tester thing gave me a 30 and then sat there, i have no idea what's up with that.

After running the tester's KOER built-in test, the blinkenlight on the dash showed me:

412 = Idle Air Control
521 = Power steering sensor

~~

What do you guys think? I'm ready to shoot this thing....

Good chance the ccrm has a sticky relay that sometimes doesn't want to unlatch.

30 psi fuel pressure idle
29 psi @ sustained 2500-3000 rpm

Sounds a bit lower than I'm expecting but maybe I'm remembering truck specs, I forget...

I can do some swapping around of CCRMs, I guess; nothing happened (e.g. pump didn't shut off) when O banged on it with my cellphone, maybe it's being told to stay on? I have a spare computer I got from a junkyard several years ago, I think it's at Steve's house....

OK, I swapped in the CCRM from Steve's car (the black one, at his house) and made no other changes, we'll see what happens....

On my 3rd CCRM and the problem is still there.

I have this computer I got from a JY a few years ago, this should work (at least as a test), correct?

Hope this works, today's cameras record in a bajillion gigapixels, I swear....
Sho computer smallest

EDIT changed the picture

BTW Fred sorry for the multiple accounts, I'm using multiple computers....
