Took a vacation from the car and boy was it nice! Picked up another fixed upper as a daily so ended up with an $1100 08 535i with the twin turbo n54 that needs some suspension help!

Anywho onto the sho. The motor was taken out and disassembled for more upgrades. Going to put ARP hardware in the bottom end for the mains and fix a deck blemish.

As for the cause we are thinking the plugs behind the water pump failed and we are going to thread and plug that hole. I bought the oem plug for it after tracking down numbers and finally finding a part number for it but alas we are just going to do the for sure method at this point!

While the motor is out I'm toying with a transmission rebuild / upgrade while I'm at it. Doesn't sound like a bad idea now that I'm in the no rush mood. I was in the mindset of rush rush rush so I could get YouTube content but now frankly I could not care less lol. Got the 535 as a bit of content and taking my time with the sho as it needs a little bit extra TLC to make sure everything is 100% done perfect and with no mistakes.

Picture of bmw attached and now I've got two ****** full size sedans that currently doing move!! 535 has a broken spring currently and is hella flush

If you want an accurate PTU temp, you could get an external guage and wire it to the temp sensor on the PTU. Not ideal, I'm sure. It's just a 2 wire resistive type temp sensor. I took a ton of readings on one to attempt to figure the scaling. I still have that data if ya need it.
Sorry for the Necro on this topic but, just reading this thread. Here are the Ford Specs:

Update!

Block completely torn down and inspection came up good! Visually everything is basically perfect. Going to measure everything and recheck the bore and clean everything again. I've got the block in the back of the bmw as I need to bring it to a machine shop to have a blemish decked that was deemed not an issue but better safe than sorry as it's a part anyways may as well make sure it's perfect.

Next I need to find a main stud kit. I know LMS has one but they are trash. I need to contact super six as looks like they also have one. Slowly but surely!

did you ever find the reason for low oil pressure?

Yes, coincidentally the same plug behind the water pump we believe was the issue. This time around we are going to thread the block and actually put a threaded plug in it's place. Oil pressure is a finicky thing and will make the smallest of discrepancies extremely noticeable and my sanity disappear

That was my life with LS engines. Two of my built PG's killed the thrust bearings...

It be like that some times

Nice to hear it’s perfectly fine! It’s always nice to know rather than believe it is but not be sure. Time to reassemble the EcoBeast:redface:

Block dropped off for deck and main line hone. Waiting on main studs to show up then should be game time on that! Everything touched by oil is getting cleaned. Taking no chances despite everything looking visually good! Gotta get them the main studs before they can get the work done though so just waiting on those!

Also going to do a fresh set of rings as I have almost a complete set from the original oops after all clearances are checked and in good condition

Got the main studs in. Gotta drop them off Monday at the machine shop so we can check main clearances and be good to go after some machining most likelyIMG 20210226 184537
