I also have the OEM PP pads front and rear. The PP front pads are made by Brembo and work extremely well.
Yes sir, I didn't realize how good they were until I thought I was upgrading them. Long story short, it wasn't an upgrade with the new Ceramic Performance Pads. However, when you pair the stock OEM PP pads with drilled and slotted rotors they work well.

What's interesting is, I was chatting with some guy overseas on IG that managed to fit BMW X5M 16" rotors on his XSport (at least that's where he said he sourced them). And used the Brembos off it. The XSport and the SHO share the same rotors, btw. I saw the pic, but who knows...lol. Let me see if I can find that photo...

EDIT: Found em...I don't have many details on how they got it to work.

EDIT: Changed word configuration so as to avoid confusion as to what I meant to type...ugh...it's 1AM, LOL...

Can we get him to specify what is all involved? Maybe get him on the forum? If he has an Xsport maybe get him over on EBPF.

Honestly, he was a guy in Russia and our conversation was very broken since whatever translation algorithm IG uses didn't help much...I can pass his IG name on here to anyone we who wants to reach out to him...

Nope, check the carfax buddy.

Wilwood kit saves a nice amount of weight. Remember, the rotors are 2-piece design, with the hats being billet aluminum.

The rear came up to about a wash...

But considering everything is bigger, I'd say it's a win...[/QUOTE

Wow, thats very enlightening to see the weight difference on the bigger brakes. It makes sense that the hat has most of the rotor's mass. Are those the aero 4 calipers that tce uses?

I have upgraded rotors with stock PP pads. I am pretty modded and my brakes comply well. Make no mistake about it, I am coming down quickly from triple digits as well quite a bit every weekend. While you are trying to figure this out, I would suggest going to Ford and getting a pair of stock PP pads for your Taurus....you might be pleasantly surprised.

I see how you would be getting better braking than me using upgraded rotors and pads. I have been using pads more geared towards comfort.

Ok, can you tell me which calipers work with the bracket? I am shopping them right now and I'm curious about the piston area as well as the cost. Maybe you can fill in the blanks for me. Does the piston area on your set up or the tce kit increase the piston area? The 2013+ brakes have an area of (i believe) 3.75in. I've been led to believe that more piston area is better but I can't find info on whether our master cylinder can handle more piston area.

My car has the Aero6 top mount calipers, p/n 120-13293-RD and 120-13294-RD. I can get you the full kit of what you need (calipers, lines, barrel adapter for OEM hardline, and BP10/20 pads) for $1200 shipped to your door, then you just need the brackets from @aaron240 to tie it all together.

He has also made some tweaks to have an option for the Aero4 calipers as well, which can save on the caliper cost.

That would be a large sum of your problem. Most comfort brakes aren't designed for high heat. That is why you are probably experiencing brake fade. I got it bad trying to bring my SHO down from a 130 pull on Bell Rd right before Frank Llyod Wright checking a Subi STI with the ceramic pads.

Once I put the semi metallic OEM PP parts back on, it hasnt done it again and I beat the **** out of them.

They are cheap and would probably be a good in between before you get your upgraded brake kit.

For the record my rims are not bronze.

I see that the piston area is 5.4 in. Did that effect your pedal feel negatively? I'm on a 2011 master cylinder and I have a 2013+ replacement for it. If I can do better for a master cylinder than I will. Any suggestions? The more race car the better. Do you know if those are the same calipers from the tce kit?

What’s funny, I saw that and thought, I kinda like that matte bronze.
And there you go! All he needs to do is hit it with some spray adhesive, and voila! Matte bronze wheels.

All,

For those interested I could provide the high strength steel CNC machined adapter brackets and mounting hardware so that the 2013+ SHO's could utilize the following Wilwood Super-Light 4 Big Brake Kit which would work in conjunction with the OEM sized 2013+ 14" front rotors. These brackets would be very similar to the ones i designed and manufactured for Lee with the Wilwood Aero6 calipers. This front brake solution would save approximately 10 lbs per corner over stock front brakes. This kit would utilize the following parts which are listed below that can be purchased directly from Summit Racing online. These brackets would imply bolt onto the existing front knuckle and would require zero cutting or fabrication of any kind. It would be a true bolt on solution and could be easily reversed if the owner wanted to revert back to the stock front brakes.

Benefits of this front brake kit include:
  • Weight saving of approximately 10 lbs per corner (20lbs total for the front brakes) over the OEM front brake calipers and brackets
  • Ability to utilize Wilwood's high quality and easy change brake pads & compounds, BP10 & BP20
  • Ability to utilize front stainless braided brake lines which when compared to OEM rubber lines should provide more protection from lines swelling
  • Ability to utilize a 4 piston caliper instead of the OEM 2 piston which allows for a more equality distributed clamping force
  • Aesthetically the front brakes now have the big brake look that a lot of car enthusiasts prefer
SEP adapter brackets & hardware: $600
Wilwood components required: $626
Total: $1226

Haha, it is kinda nice to see what if would look like.

It has kinda grown on me honestly.
