I am a little surprised that for a 4 year old vehicle they are using aftermarket and used parts (headlamp). Is it an insurance thing not to use OEM?

It is required by quite a few insurance companies that the body shop look at used parts first, then go to new. For the price difference.
The same thing was done for my 2016 Ram when I hit a deer. But it was only a year old so they had to purchase all new parts because the front end changed that year.

Wtf, I'm used to seeing deer early morning/evening especially in the fall. I had what looked to be something less than a yearling sprint across the road about a hundred feet in front of me today at 1:00 in the afternoon in 90 degree heat. Just another weird 2020 thing I guess.

Ya know, I really think, up in Michigan at least, the biggest problem is a lack of hunters causing a huge rise in the deer population. This type of activity has increased dramatically over the last five years. Some of it is because the “rut” is being pushed back later in the calendar year because of the temperature staying high in the fall. Therefore these deer aren’t running when hunting season is in place.

On the other hand. I think some deer are just dumb, like people and end up in the wrong place at the right time.

Wednesday I took my PTU over to ecoboost_xsport houes to put the drain plug in. when I was over there I wanted to check the plate that he has on his PTU which has the Cooling system to see if it would bolt onto my PTU. we determine that it is possible the plate seems to bolt right up to my PTU so if you go to the junkyard pull off the a PTU cooling plate and it will bolt up to a 2012 PTU.
The first picture is putting the plate on my PTU the others are the drilling the drain hole.

Slowly getting there the motor is at the new shop he's going to tear it down replace the rear seals, timing chain, water pump, oil pump, drop the oil pan make sure the inside is all clean. Finishing up the valve covers and intake manifold will be taking that over to the shop so they can install that Monday..

Started on lowering my car's rear end via spring cutting. I Followed the instructions posted earlier in this thread. I only got one side done, because the mosquito's were beginning to eat me alive. All went very well and with no drama. I thought I ran into some issues getting the control arm disconnected at the frame, but with some coaxing, finally came off. I thought I was going to run into difficulty getting the control arm bolt through the frame and bushing again, but with gentle coaxing, got the holes lined up, and back together. I cut a piece of wire to 5.25 inches and used it as a guide to where to cut the coil with my angle grinder/cutting wheel. If the weather co-operates, I'll do the other side after work tonight.

All done. I'm very happy with the subtle results. I think 5.25" is perfect...even 5.5 may have been good as well. All in all, I'd rate this a 2 out of 5 for difficulty. Best part about this mod, was that I busted my torque wrench, and as it had a lifetime warranty, I got a free replacement.....with a FAR better quality one, because they no longer made mine lol.

So, car is on stands, most of my stuff came in. I'm doing the springs and shocks first. Will post pics when I'm all done. Still waiting on the noisemaker delete, and the darn down pipes, but I'm done waiting. Car will be on stands all week. Gotta do the suspension, drop the old DPs, drill and tape the PTU, change rear gear oil again, install the UPR catch can, new plugs, new T stat. Then start working on the gear head tune. Been so busy with work, I haven't emailed gear head back with the current tuning strategy...they've been asking for almost 2 weeks now, lol.

Question...does the rear gear housing take any sort of limited slip additive?

Just bought a gopro that will be on the car for this weekend so i can get some good footage for everyone, kicking myself for not ordering sooner. Hopefully I'll be in town this weekend for night time shenanigans.
