Got a picture of the floor? And do you know exactly where the opening is on the tank? Is the gas tank the same as the SHO?

Yup, I lifted the carpet and there is about a 1" drain port with a rubber plug i pulled. I used my boroscope to see what's under it and I can see the top of the fuel hanger. So I cut a 2.5" larger exploratory hole. I have some random rubber cap/plug I got from who-knows-where years ago that I can plug it up if it doesn't work out. But after looking at it, i know i can cut a roughly trapezoidal shape out. I have access to commercial shears and presses so I can easily make a plate cover for it when done

So here's what I'm looking at, I know this doesn't effect you guys at all, and I'll end up posting this on Explorer boards, but I'll be cutting that shape out and I did some measurements. I'll be able to access the fuel hanger through it and not effect any structural points. The cover I'll make will be thick and will seal, but I'll also press some ridges into it to strengthen it as well.

But this will go a long way toward giving me easy access, especially when I get to my PWM surge tank project I've been working out...

Progress...

Oh, this is gonna be SOOOOOO easy to access when it's all said and done. Flip up seat with the press of a button, fold carpet flap over, remove plate with minimal screws and VIOLA...fuel hanger access...

Still need to make the plate cover, that'll be easy, 10 minute job. Drill holes for nut-serts and make a rubber gasket (easy enough). Then just re-install the seat and "these are not the droids you're looking for"...

I've been doing Toyota fuel pump recalls the better part of this week. I can tell you, the Corolla has under seat access and the only thing holding the access plate to the floorboard is that sticky black rope sealer. The same stuff all the asian manufacturers like to use on the door seals. Easy on and off-no fasteners required.

Latest update:

Cut the new plate from 8Ga aluminum plate...pretty thick stuff, won't be putting the indents in as this is way thicker than the sheet metal body.
