Yeah, I'd be curious to see how that tranny they built was doing, and what it was being used for. Proof in the pudding, ya dig.

Exactly why I was curious...it's possible I could have some of it done locally if it was just a matter of having some parts hardened, treated (either shotpeened or cryo), or even machined. I guarentee you over half that 2.5k is labor cost. ****, I could put it together if I had a parts list of stuff that needed to be upgraded. I guess we could find out on our own, but it's nice when someone has done the legwork on something that works and is willing to share the info...jussayin...lolI am wondering how custom that job and parts really are.
Good point. Those costs have shop liability for possible failures built in...very true.I am all for doing thing myself, it is definitely more cost effective BUT sometimes one needs to weigh the conundrum of this... If I do this myself, I do NOT have any warranty on this....is warranty going to be needed in this case or will I be ok without it?
if you are paying for a service, every service will have some sort of a warranty on it (unless otherwise stated) ....sometimes that alone is worth the added cost
just my $ .02
Would that shop be willing to part with the info pertaining to what parts were actually upgraded and how? I'm thinking they won't because they'd probably love the $2.5k (which I'm sure includes alot of labor, not just parts) for themselves, but might be worth asking at least.

Realistically, assuming I went over the top with my MKS, I'd probably copart a car in order to part it out and get most of my expenses back. I'd have the engine and trans that I could just take out and build up, and parting out most of the rest and salvaging the shell would probably cut my costs in half, if not pay for most of it.
Also, I've never torn a car down to the ground, so this sounds more appealing to me than it probably is. LOL
I'm at the goal basically. I don't have aspirations for huge powerI would tend to agree. Would CSS be nice for piece of mind? Absolutely. Necessary? Probably not. I do think the money and time put elsewhere could be more beneficial for overall engine health.
The question is though, once you reach your goal, are you going to want to stop there?
BTW, are you going with the Gallo 12 or Gallo 24 for the new motor? Forgot to ask.
