I finally got my 95 on the road and put a new agm battery in it a week ago when it wouldn’t start with a boost after sitting for 5 months. Put some seafoam in the fuel and lucas in the oil and drove it around for a while, no issues or check engine lights. Once it warmed up it would stay running (iac valve I’m pretty sure) but now i went to start it and it had power but it would crank and crank but wouldn’t turn over, like it was choking. Started to get some smoke from the front end of the engine, looked like the main ground wire to the battery, and possibly from the distributor cap or somewhere around that area. Stopped smoking after 15 minutes, no fire, but I’m concerned about using ether to try and get it going because of fire hazard, and not sure what would cause it to not start after not having any problems with a new battery a week ago. Thoughts?

I was going to say, the smoke could be coming from the starter from trying to repeatedly start it.

No distributor cap on these cars.

Not trying to be a dick or difficult, genuinely asking, but isn’t this circled bit the distributor cap?

I’m going to try and get a new starter in this weekend, but generally, not starting but cranking well, what might cause that? Sounded like it was choking and almost cranked over a few times, but fuel pump is fairly new, car drove with no issues a week ago, no check engine light or codes, and has always started up right away with no issue. Seafoam in the fuel and lucas stabilizer in the oil a week ago (also oil was clean so not a head gasket issue)

No, that is the Coil Pack. These cars don't have Distributors and or Distributor Caps. The part that I circled is the DIS. "Distributorless Ignition System"

Sometimes.
Do you have a good ground at the DIS module? There are bolts that secure it and also act as grounds. Maybe try a wiggle test at the DIS or look to see if that module is cracked or the wiring clips on the side are damaged. That is the module Irish Pride circled in green above.
