Alternating cylinder operation is for overheating engine like manual states. Cylinder deactivation as found on a 1.5l ecoboost engines is for highway effiecency

Im not sure, i didnt read into much after that article but our cars do have the cylinder deactivation to warn us to stop and all if it ever would be too much of pulling. Say out west where mountains are real

The EB powerplant does not employ "cylinder deactivation", which as BAM_SHO points out, is entirely intended/designed for fuel efficiency.

Unfortunately for those that don't know better (and God help them, follow your advice) they will end up in the same boat you've found yourself in, with a bum engine.

Ummm what else? Oh yes, road course/auto cross with mine, besides dragging it and some occasional street duties. I also have the original touch screen device, as well as their new one, BOTH of which datalog, so just because I have gone to their facility for dyno sessions, doesn't mean I leave at that. Again you have no idea.

I have not ever towed with my sho and never said i did. I put up the thread with an article of someone towing with their sho. Another member on here does and got good help from that article and talking with the person who wrote the original article. I would like to tow sprint cars with my sho in the future and today got a tow kit and wiring kit that is plug and play on the sho at an auxilary port hidden in the rear

The 1.5l ecoboost has had it for awhile, again you guys dont know the platforms. Thats why you go to livernois and have them tune your car on a dyno....for the strip??????. Werid because tuning on a dyno and running on a strip will make you slower

Yeah well it's good to get first 80-90 percent on Dyno then you data log to get the rest.

No harm to try and tow as long as you know what you are looking for for early signs of it not working I will also have suspension bars or whatever you call them that article claim will let you tow more then your car weighs and my RV weighs a little less so i will still be taking it slowly. But it was nice to see an article that showed it's possible and runs well.

You better look at the tag on the door for GVW and CGVW. Most passenger cars are overload with people and luggage. Then you add a trailer and it's contents. Seriously people dont realize this till it's too late. Trucks and large SUVs are designed for this, not our cars or and cars. Just not worth it.

Yes I have I have also weighed the car to know it's real weight it's ok if you take things slow. Work your way up
Did you read the article and how much they towed stock suspension my trailer is the same weight with everything in it with is not much what extra I have is all in the rear of the trailer nothing up front except propane bottles and batteries. I understand some people that are advicating not to do it have had bad experiences and I will be alone when I first try other then a follow vehicle.

Yeah you will probably get there before me my wife has been fighting me the whole time from what others have told us when I asked some people I thought would know but they too are novice towers.

Another couple things to think about. Weight of your trailer, if it is over 3000lbs, it requires trailer brakes, and what class receiver hitch to you plan on using?

Trailer does have brakes on it and I'm waiting for the RV guys to get back to me if they custom made there hitch or used an off the shelf class III for the Taurus

The sho should be real good with pulling. I had a friend with a turbo supra. And it pulled real well, couldnt beleive it. Just gotta have an open mind, ford says not to pull with it because its a performance sedan. Turbocharged cars are best to pull with and can outpull some trucks. Im willing to bet our Sho’s can pull just as good as the f150 when put side to side

SHO will not stand up to long term towing, esp up alot of hills. Make sure you have an big aftermarket trans cooler installed, cause you are going to make that little trans hot. Best of luck to you

Yeah although from North Pole to Delta is not very hilly which is where I'm going to be doing my first test at least to eielson all two lane 60mph highway 20 miles then to Delta is about 40 miles

Maybe one of the guys that tunes these things can get you a pulling tune. Just to keep the revs low and stay in a lower gear even when coming down the hill. Or you could just manualy do it with the paddles

I always manually down shift with the peddles down hill. And I will be adjusting speed to whatever temps I have so I know how hard I can push it.
But first I have to see if the suspension actually can handle it.

Yea its just struts with coils. Nothing to fancy like magnetic ride control or anything so maybe you can get better springs or shocks for the rear that can handle more weight. Or the rear air ride lift like you said before just to help it stay level with the tongue weight

I would like to put a 2 inch receiver hitch on my sho but they say that the 1.5 fits the sho submodel other taurus models can take the 2 inch. I am not planning on towing but have a bike rack that connects too a 2 inch and would like to use it without adapters. Thoughts?
