Nice I knew the Taurus could handle it.
Did they mention if they changed out the shocks at all?

I did message them on Facebook.
I have the same travel trailer they used so very curious.

Im not sure, i didnt read into much after that article but our cars do have the cylinder deactivation to warn us to stop and all if it ever would be too much of pulling. Say out west where mountains are real

I was just looking at universal tow kits online for taurus in general. Im big into sprint car racing as im from Pa and everyone is. I should sho up to the track pulling his 410 trailer haha
Haha you should people think it's dumb and will destroy the car also people don't know how heavy these things really are.

I was going to add air springs to help level this since it's made my 95 f150 squat to the ground but maybe the leaf springs were weak on it.

So I'm going to get a proper tow bar and test that out first see how low it goes and go from there.

My trailer is in the 6400ilbs ball park that they used once.

Doing the math although probably a little wrong I'm waiting for them to get back how you do this I figure 6400/4 for the tires on the trailer 1600 then /2 since most the weight will be on the rear of the car comes to 800 so thats under the 1000ilbs the rear is rated possibly
But also 60% of the trailer weight should be in the rear so 6400*.6 is 3840. 6400-3840=2560 a bit more then 1000 so we will see.

Id take the sho tractor pulling if i could. City folk got their drag strip, where im from we got clay and dirt to prove your cars. I dirt raced a 94 sho, made over 300whp. I tried to convert the engine to rwd and got a Falcon tranny and rear for it but i ran out of free time to invest in it and it now sits in my barn tore apart in pa :). Maybe next life

I got 900lbs but it depends on the actual weight between front to rear, a camper shouldnt be bad because they are made pretty close to 50/50. But a flat equipment trailer will need some actual figuring for the trailer and for whats on it

Well anyway. Its the ecoboost engine. Fords best pulling engine for the f150. And the normal taurus with normal 6f50 tranny has 3500lb trailer capacity. Sho tranny is beefier. But im not sure how different the axels are, i doubt they are different in a major way. Suspension in the sho is not tuned to tow and neither is the steering rack. But the engine and tranny should be fine. Just pull a offroad highreach forklift as a “test” and if the sho breaks. Lift it up the road to the ford dealer and say i dont know man, i was passing a chevy ss and it blew up ;)

Hahaha yeah I am most worried about the suspension but I want a tow bar installed anyways so I can at least tow people out if I'm in a good spot to do so
I let a lady help me out of a bad spot and ruined the one tow spot I had to do it safely
really glad I didn't wrap it around the axle

You can tow a light trailer with a light load, anything more get a truck or large SUV. Just because the manufactures say you can tow, doesn't mean you should. Just a little common sense, goes a long way.

Next, the Ecoboost power cars, truck DO NOT have cylinder deactivation, as no other FMC cars. If it mention in the Taurus owners manual, please tell me what page. I want to read it.

Accurate info right here/there.

Refreshing to have someone post proper info in/on/about this platform.

Yea it does. It also uses the turbos as an air pump to cool a hot engine

And just because i called it cylinder deactivation how does it even fall into the context of overheating by pulling. Shows you guys dont even know what true cylinder deactivation is, which is for gas mileage. Alternating cylinder operation is for when it heats up over load. And no these cars say dont pull anything, nothing to pull more or do as manufacturer says. Because they say dont pull with the sho. Again. You guys dont know the platform because if you did would know not to pull with a sho, hense the thread “towing with a sho” because it is very uncommon. You guys DD them as a normal vehicle, some of us like me on here use them for everything and even as a backup car.

The 1.5l ecoboost has had it for awhile, again you guys dont know the platforms. Thats why you go to livernois and have them tune your car on a dyno....for the strip??????. Werid because tuning on a dyno and running on a strip will make you slower
