I have met some strange people at my job. Engineers and all. It takes all kinds to make this world go round.

What curt is saying is to launch in awd, then at a certain point go to fwd as you no longer need as much traction to continue to accelerate.

I can launch better than a dodge Daytona and get him light to light. His higher h.p is not an advantage as he can't get the power to the ground.

On the highway the dodge has more power. My awd is no longer an advantage. Infact it's more moving parts robbing power.

What I do not know is how the stock programming will use the awd R.D.U. at a WOT pull all the way to 140 in a P.P.

All of those FWD dragsters....

Cfm is flow rate. Lbs/hour is pressure. Not rocket science, which you know nothing of

Curtis, you finally got a real engineer upset enough to chime in on all this crap.

Lbs/hour is NOT pressure. It is mass flow rate.

Cfm is volume flow rate.

Those two are different.

The point I am making is that I don't want to fly on anything you have designed.

The RDU is used only briefy to launch then basically all FWD from then on. No one to my knowledge has documented (for the public) activity of the AWD system during a WOT run, either via PIDs or the dash AWD gauge.

I think at WOT there is some power to the RDU at all speeds. My Conti has a gauge and it shows power going to both ends at WOT up to at least 60 or 70 MPH. I haven't really checked it beyond that. And, by the way, "turning off AWD" does not stop parts from moving. There is still drag as the rear wheels spin the halfshafts and the PTU is still spinning the driveshaft. The electronic coupler is between the driveshaft and RDU. All the weight is still there, too.

A couple of things in response to brucelinc's post above:

The Continental may be set up differently from the SHO. And, the manufacturer's are not above playing games with what the gauges show. Witness the infamous Ford oil pressure "gauge" that is really just an on/off switch at ~5psi. More relevant to this discussion is the Nissan gauge that shows power distribution of up to 50% to the rear wheels on their Rogue, etc. where the system has no capability to actually deliver 50% to the rear wheels.

I make no claim that the "intelligent AWD" gauge in my Continental is correct. Just reporting what it shows at WOT beyond the point where wheelspin is an issue. The system is a bit different in that it has dynamic torque vectoring more similar to a Focus RS....applying power to specific wheel or wheels to aid in cornering. As I understand it, the SHO torque vectoring system is based on applying braking to specific wheels when cornering hard.

My point about weight and moving parts is not arguable, though. Not saying that disabling the coupler might not be beneficial at higher speeds, but it is far from being the same as just being a FWD vehicle.

I just mean that its not having to power the rear wheels but the shafts would still spin but i would think the rear actually moving would be most of the weight and stress at WOT. But then again you guys are probably right that it may be mostly fwd anyway when getting on it. I wonder how the activating rear is made like if it can change its front to rear percentage by throttle or just a switch for on or off. When i had a switch jumped in it would just feel as if if is totally off. I wonder if it is actively controlled straightline throttle wise. I know it is for normal slipping and turning as most of these intelligent awd systems are. Too many brands got their own form of awd it seems and i never thought of how they work. My early awd astro is full time awd and not electronic. Just 4wd all the time. Even when turned off and in neutral. I tried towing it before, turns out she needs a rollback

I was just wondering if all 4 wheels were bouncing if the rev limiter or just 2 wheels. Not sure if I’m in the right thread here ?

Wow! I've been away from this thread for about 2 weeks and there's like 8 new pages full of posts! All I can say is that my LMS V11 failed horribly even with the tranny overfill and other "tricks," mentioned and even a revised tune. Then I find it weird that Matt at Gearhead sends my very 1st tune with him and not only did I get more HP & Torque on the dyno but my shifting issues are completely gone. hyymmm....??

Thats all i needed to hear, thanks for the simple review of him. I couldnt find any review of his tunes on any forums. He reached out to me on here for a tune and i was sorta skeptical about some of these guys. Ill give him a try

If they forgot they tuned it, maybe they forgot they uploaded to the web and what the link was? ;)

No they dont have a video. I have a video and have not uploaded it or any other videos on the drag strip. Im working with brad on a tune. He is in the same town where is actually live in Cranberry pa, i only bought a second house in Hanover pa to be closer to the Air Base i work at near DC. I talked to the guy i know today with his quick sho and it is full fwd tranny and all. I thought he turned the rears off when running but he actually has a fwd only 2010 taurus with a 3.5l ecoboost swapped in with the transmission modified

Now this is really getting good. I can't wait to hear what kind of 60 foot times that FWD Taurus with the ecoboost conversion does.

I have seen LMS take shots at Brad....

Yep. That who i seen take shots at brad. But livernois rather tune a car on a dyno hahahah. I learn from real racing not from wanna be performance shops who tune on a dyno for everyones car worldwide. Even my performance shop and roush both laugh at livernois. Yes even roush. Call and ask

Not only have they taken shots at Brad, but when Brad responds to them....Crickets. My tune only E30 car makes more power (in hot conditions) and is faster in the 1/4 mile than the majority of LMS Meth Cars. It is also safer and has not had a single hiccup with the every tune I have loaded.
