Hi guys

So some ****head smashed my rear passenger window in the other night.
“What a d**k!”
I have gotten a new replacement window for it but I see that Ford rivets their windows to the guide track.

Has anyone had to replace a window before?

I am thinking do I re-rivet the new window back in and or do I get small bolts and nylock nuts and bolt them in.

I can do either way i just wanted to see what others have done in the past.
Mind you I’d have to get a river set for that direction.

Any help or direction would be awesome.
Thanks in advance
C.

Some search threads. I remember those bolting in and out but old posts state GenI no bolts primarily adhesive. I wonder if the bolting and the quarter glass is interchangeable between GenI & II?

I would see if members mrecoolgar or rubydist.. maybe jelloslug have experience removing/installing those. I never took the plunge on that

I assume that the OP is talking about the window in the rear passenger door, which is riveted. Not the small quarter window installed in the C pillar

It all good I appreciate it.

I am referring the rear passenger power window.

I just have to deal with the rivets and re-riveting that’s all.

I think I am going to go with rivets as i am afraid if I use nut and bolt they have a chance of coming loose.

Please note updates to my response. I checked my files for the correct specifications.
Removal: gently tap the rivet post out. Then use a 1/4" drill bit to drill thru the rivet body. It should seperate then. There are three on the rear doors and two on the front doors. Remember to hold or secure the glass while doing this.
Install: most times the plastic bushings can be reused. They are a two part and snap together thru the glass hole. I use a M6-1.00 x 25mm (1") hex ****** bolt with a M6-1.00 nylon lock nut and two M6 x 37mm (1-1/2") washer. Do not over tighten or the glass will break.
I carry new bushings and hardware for this application.

Install: most times the plastic bushings can be reused. I use a M8 x 1-1/4 bolt with a nylon lock nut instead of rivets. Do not over tighten or the glass will break.
I'm going off memory and specifics may be off a bit. I also carry new bushings and bolts/ nuts for this application.

Yess. This is amazing thank you
What are the new bushings and bolts/nuts for? Spares?

Much appreciated
