I've been looking at trading my 2014 SHO white ptc with 56k miles on a black 2015 with 36k miles for 22,500. I'm hoping folks who own either Black SHOs will chime in because in the past I've always had a harder time washing, detailing etc on black vehicles. I've been spoiled by how easy the white ptc is to keep perfect. Just looking for any tips or secrets before possibly taking the plunge.

Thanks in advance

Have/had both, sorry, I don't wash my car much ;) - it's a daily driver and a lease to boot. I loved the Tuxedo Black though - the Shadow Black is so plain...

I have a 2013 tuxedo black. It's beautiful when clean and can look almost red, blue or green depending on the angle the sun hits it. But it is a pain in the ass to keep clean.

I've never seen a Shadow Black car, so I don't know about it. But I can tell you that paint code UH, Tuxedo Black Metallic, has blue, green and red flakes in it. I'm looking at it right now, and it needs a bath :)

Shadow black here. Lots of cleaning, but if kept waxed, does good with just a bath and a towel dry. Looks great for several minutes!

Which is exactly why I went to White Platinum on my 2015. 2011- Kona blue. A lot of work, but doable. 2013 - Tuxedo black. If you are a car guy (or gal), will drive you nuts.

I have always thought the best colors for any car are black, white, and red (in no particular order). Of those black is by far the hardest to keep looking good because absolutely everything shows up in black paint.

imho, the Tuxedo Black is both better looking and a little easier to care for. All those multicolored flakes will hide just a little of the chips, swirls, etc. that will jump right out on Shadow Black (plain black) paint.

The only thing I have found to help is to get a black wax. At least the tiny swirls will get filled in with the black wax and not show up as prominently.

Ha! Now that's the quote of the year for black car owners if I dare say so. Too funny.

My '13 Tuxedo Black spends most of its time in the garage. The secret to keeping mine looking great is a California Car Duster. I never leave the garage without first going over the car to remove standing dust. I "wash" it with a big bucket of HOT WATER... no soap. It never gets very dirty since I try not to drive in the rain or on wet roads. I bought this SHO because I love this color.

I was going to say it looks great for an hour or two, but you're probably more accurate.

Tuxedo black on mine, I can't even park at work without it getting dirty. We are a couple doors down from a coffee roasting place and I get a coating of whitish dust from just an afternoon of sitting in the parking lot. Thinking about going the white route on my next one. I've heard the white cars are faster anyhow.

Ruby Red here. Pretty easy to keep looking good. Had a black Mustang. Easy to see scratches and swirls in black and water spots.

I had a 14 MKZ with tuxedo and traded it for a black 16 SHO.

I really liked the tuxedo. I think it would have been awesome on the sho.

both pretty much only look clean right out of the wash... Im putting ~25k/year on the SHO as a dd. Lots of marks showing up from stones and etc...

Silver probably will keep up appearance the best. I was never a RR fan.

Any black will be dirty instantly. Of all the cars I've had my silver Lincoln LS looked clean the longest.

Hey there! i have the 2015 taurus sho personally in the tuxedo black with the metallic flakes and loved it, wasnt too hard to keep clean or anything and it only takes a quick whipe down with a detail spray to get the car looking showroom quality again!
