Soooooo I bought a used 2013 non pp from a local dealer around September 2014 and was aware of the half shaft recall. It was a demo. At time of purchase, I notice the driver keypad was peeling loose from the top of the door. Informed my salesman who referred me to the service department to see when they would be able to fit me in schedule wise and this also gave me a chance to mention the half shaft recall. We found a day which was about a week later, so i took delivery of my awesome vehicle. I drove it home seeing what she do on the open road only to be let down by heavy pulsation while braking. I called my salesman the next day and complained about the issue. He said no problem, we will take care of it when you bring it in for the door panel. So the time comes to bring it back to the dealer a week later for service. I meet with the service manager who writes up the vehicle and I mention again about the recalled half shaft. He says ok we will take care of it. I forgot to mention I purchased that ford warranty that covers certain things for up to about 100,000 miles. Thank god for that. He got me a rental and I was without my car for about a week because it turns out the door panel had to be ordered. The body shop actually fixed that and not the service department. Brakes came back ok as well and I found this out by braking while cornering at a pretty good speed. Corners well for a nose heavy car. Well I'm driving my car to work one morning on the local highway I felt a vibration under accelartion. I couldn't get her past 65mph and it felt like the road had wavy bumps in it. I got over thinking the lane was damaged from all the heavy semi truck traffic and tried to accelarte again this time I heard a boom like my tire popped. I pull over to inspect and all looks good. It's dark outside but I try to see if I hit anything on the road. Nope car is good. I try to ge the car back up to freeway speeds which is always fun but it goes nowhere and my speedometer goes haywire. Something is broke went right into my head. Called a tow truck and they got me back to a local dealer. They inspect and indeed it's the half shaft on the passenger side. I tell this current dealer about my service interaction a pt the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and he says nothing is on file. I leave the car with the dealer and they get me a rental, again thank god for that ford warranty I purchased. He calls a day later and says the half shaft has to ordered and would take a while. A few days go by and my service advisor doesn't call so I call them. I can tell he doesn't want to tell me the news on my car. He says the half shaft is repaired but we noticed an oil leak. It was from one of the turbos. Turns out the dealer I bought the car from replaced a turbo but left a cap on it. So again I wait for the turbo to get in stock. It's been two weeks already. I'm losing faith in ford motor company. I've owned a 95 Ford Mustang GT 5.0, a 2002 Ford Explorer that was apart of that huge tire recall, a 2008 Ford Taurus limited that I put 215,000 miles on with no problems, and this Ford Sho Ecoboost that I haven't even got to know yet. Guess it's time to start considering foreign.

Recommend talking to FMC district and find another dealer in your area. I bought an CPO 2010 w/ extended warranty. Car now has 98K. Very impressed with the quality over last few GM cars. Buy American.

Glad you survived the grenading halfshaft! Though some problems can be blamed on Ford, even more can be properly assigned to the dealership. You have to make sure what you have asked them to do shows up on the service ticket. If you have a TSB, print it out and take it with you.

Quite a few dealerships really need to be required to earn their "continuing education" credits and keep up-to-date in technical & customer service areas.

The keypad sounds like a defective part. I assume that the rotors had to be resurfaced to address the brake issue, which arguably could be the result of a design deficiency or hard use from the prior owner. As for the turbo and halfshaft issues, they sound more like dealer service problems in that your halfshaft was either not carefully examined or not examined at all, and someone botched the turbo replacement.

The only way that I would purchase a car like the SHO is to buy one brand new, where I can personally preside over the break-in period, and not have to worry about a prior owner beating the car. It's just too tempting to drive this car very hard, and not every one is as manic about maintenance as I am.

You've owned 3 Fords with no real problems, one goes to 215,000 miles. Then you buy a 2 year old used somewhat high performance that isn't perfect, you don't know how it was treated, the dealership is a a bunch of scumbags...... and you blame Ford Motor Company?
You've been driving around since Sept' with a cap on a turbo?
You got the warranty, get it fixed, read and learn all you can here and you'll enjoy your car like your other Fords.

Yeah sounds like you need to find another dealer. This is what sucks because Ford can't control anything about dealers and that's who the customers interact with. So no matter what Ford does, it comes down to a responsible dealer :frown:

sounds like a dealership problem and really not Ford, you go buy a acura and that dealership could be just as lousy, as someone said go to another dealership or speak with the service manager of your current dealer. Buying a used car can potentially always be risky, the previous owner could have driven it like it was stolen and abused it, this could happen to any car, hope your luck changes from here on because you have an amazing car, but then again im bias :)

and, btw, the story of your experience would be one of the "good" ones from owners of the German cars. their good reputations are unfortunately not well-deserved, and when they are broken they are twice the money to fix of the domestics.

and, find a Lincoln dealer for your service work - the majority of Lincoln vehicles are EcoBoost, so the techs there are far more familiar with their nuances.

Heartily agree about going to Lincoln dealerships for service. Only downside is, their numbers are few & far between. So a "special" trip would likely be in order.

First and foremost I am an ex Chevy mechanic. I have some automobile experience. Secondly I never blamed Ford. The car was a general manager car and yes I am blaming the dealer I bought it from. Just got it back on Thursday and I love my SHO. Very quick. Just mad that this metro Detroit dealer doesn't know how to replace a turbo. The dealer who fixed it, treated me well. I am blaming Ford though for not having enough of those half shafts in stock. That is what took so long. Now a new problem popped up. The windshield washer fluid doesn't work anymore smh. Last point. I am biased too. I buy American just wanted to vent lol. This car is amazingly quickly for its size and weight. I'm back to having fun again. The way it gets to 80mph on an on ramp is awesome. Ford has a winner in the ecoboost technology. Time to remove that 131mph governor though hahahaha

Get her fixed and drive it for 6 months to make sure nothing else pops up. Then tune it! You'll have a high 12 second car! :omgsho:

Bummer about the issues you've had. Share the dealer name so others can be aware of who not to take their car to!
