Well the RSX is done, still trying to find the source of a loss of voltage to the compressor on the wife's mini, and the "Wall" is taking longer than expected. The upper three panels were difficult to get accurate and in place. I had to do one panel over because the angles were wrong. But if it were easy, everyone . . .
OK, just so you guys know I'm not slackin on the 914 - just been busy with other family trips and the wall. Made some good progress - but its been slow working with this sub-par material. Hope to be all done after July 4th weekend.

Well the wall construction is done - except for the shelving trim. My wife will finish up the priming and painting, and I'll get all the component wiring routed.
So next weekend its back to the 914 project - and welding. Hope I can remember how.

Sorry for the long delay in updating. Got plenty of garage time today - over six hours doing templates for outer long reinforcement pieces. Also dropped the rear control arms.
The pieces turned out slightly different for each side so I couldn't just flip the patterns. Also the right side is minus the jack point already so I extended the bracing there forward another six inches. Thinking seriously about deleting the jack point here too since the reinforcement piece can cover the location - and would be stronger & not a water trap.

OK, wall is done! Switch came in and was able to get some time in evenings to get all the trim cut, fit, then my wife primered it. Got it all mounted today and painted. And yes, that is a VCR in the photo. We still have numerous videos of the kids stored on VHS. That'll be another project down the road.

Was out of town most of this weekend but I did get some time in this morning to cut off the jack point. I started drilling out the welds then realized I'll leave the flat sections and just build my reinforcements into them.
First photo shows why I don't like these. Even though they have drain holes I've yet to have any of mine actually drain. They all seem to collect crap that adds to rust. Fortunately its not bad. and the metal is till solid. It'll get treated and protected, then covered with reinforcement.
Felt kinda crappy so decided to quit for the day. Turned out I had a 103+ fever. Not sure where that came from.

Looking great! Thing should last forever when youre done!
Sometimes I wonder if most of this isn't overkill, but I've seen the cracks in track cars that are pushing mucho HP on sticky tires - amazing the stresses that must be occurring.
I suspect I'm really doing this for the next motor that may end up in here, cause it will be over 500HP if it happens at all. :wave:

Slap a good turbo on what you're putting in now and you could be over 500hp. Don't delay, operators are standing by...

Overkill is always nice, peace of mind can never be taken for granted. Especially when high HP numbers may come later on.
Making more progress this weekend. With the jack point off, I was able to put in a filler plate - and then this will connect to the reinforcement piece. Got the plate cut, fit and drilled with 1/4" holes for welding.

You sir are my motivation in class. Lol College education so I can do this kind of stuff later.
Thanks. I encourage the college, but I haven't learned any of this there. Mostly on-the-job and self-taught. Biggest challenge is removing the limitations we put on ourselves.

I have been making some progress over the last few weeks - while taking vacation, hosting visiting relatives, driving to cancelled car shows, etc.
Anyhow, got all the welding done on the on the pieces that cover the jack point. Got the wheel well pieces cut, trimmed, fit and tack-welded. Will continue the welding as I can. Honest guys, I'm not slacking!
