You read that right. Gen III V8 Taurus wagon that I'm converting to rwd and manual. Just joined the forum, but I've owned a couple SHO's. Joined to see if anyone has been brave (stupid) enough to try something like this. I've seen these v8s in some got rods, so I know people have mated them to rwd transmissions before.

I guess if I've got questions they would be about what trans and what rear subframe. The one ive seen talked about is from the Lincoln LS because I believe that is the only rwd car with a duratec. And I've heard the duratec has the same or really close bolt pattern. I've also seen people suggest the ranger for a parts car.

Other than that, I plan on building this engine up nice and special, gonna try to get custom cams, pistons, and other smaller things to build it for high rpms. I want more than 8k. Oh, and a turbo of course, unless I can find one of those superchargers... Ah who am I kidding. Turbo it is.

Finally on the inside I was thinking of modernizing it using bits from the newer Taurus. I like those black and brown seats they got. And of course I would repaint plastic and recarpet to match. My carpet is gross, I'm not dying that.

I know it's going to be very expensive and a lot of custom fab work. This is a passion project of mine. I love wagons, I love high revving v8s, rwd is of course better. I don't care if it takes years to build, I'm ready. Pic is the beaut I'm driving now. She's already got the V8 in her.

Lmao, I don't have a heated garage otherwise I would be done with most of my projects by now (well, probably not, but you know) I got too many projects I swear. I've been thinking about recording them, but I know I don't finish them quick enough to keep interest in a public audience.

here are a few of my and my dads work
we used a porche 928 trans axle and torque tube so as not to have the whole car e be tunnel couple of garrets and a little work to tune - fuel and coolant system are work to get right I have the plastic mock up for the bell housing adapter we build. lots of work ahead of you buy this if you would like you would have to extend the torque tube and drive shaft to get the wagon wheel base - best of luck on your project

Thank you so much for the advice! I never considered a rear trans axle, don't know how it would fit under my rear. I might lose my rear jump seats, but I would get to keep my front middle seat. Either way, I've got a lot of chopping to do.
I was thinking about modifying the subframe and possibly tunnel and trans from a rwd Lincoln LS since I heard the bell housing is similar. Transaxle would be able to handle more power I presume. I've also got plans for a turbo and some other engine work so I would need that/

Mind if I wrack your brains for some guidance? Any way to contact you directly?
