I look forward to my SHO getting no respect, especially at the track. It will make it all the more rewarding, as they resort to, after being soundly outperformed, to the classic "its still not a (insert uppidy make and model here) lol.

Why does anyone care whether or not their car gets respect? I just don't get it. Does getting respect for their car really make people feel better about themselves?

When I buy a car I buy what I want/like without fretting over whether or not it's going to get respect. I guess I'm secure enough in my person that I don't give a rat's ass what anybody else says or thinks about the vehicle I drive. All that matters is that I enjoy driving what I buy.

And as for the SHO being able to smoke more expensive cars in a straight line - again, who cares? Does anyone really think that a purchaser of, say, an LS 460 cares one iota that a less expensive car is quicker than their LS? Does anyone really think that the owner of an LS, after discovering that the SHO is quicker, is going to sit in their LS and start crying that the SHO is faster and start thinking that they made a mistake buying the LS? Because I'll guarantee that most, if not all, LS owners simply don't care that the less expensive SHO is quicker and cheaper.

It seems like some people here tie their self esteem and self worth to how quick their cars are and how much respect their car gets. Very strange.

Should put up a video montage of overpriced import/domestic buggies being owned at various dragstrip and autocross events by the SHOs, video taping of the pompous comments before and after. Should be some good stuff esp when the aftermarket really starts moving in high gear. Gotta love the pride in your ride.

The 91's going to be registered and tech'd into its first autox as a taurus......in a class of subaru's.

The point is, did you have fun? Otherwise a video like that is not a "Pride" thing, its a douche thing.

I'll also point out 99% of all vehicles will be slower than late 80's-early 90's civics in an autox.....get my point yet?

Only a few people ever take a TL or SHO to a "road course"? The real world is where they perform 99.9% of the time. Would I have bought a SHO for MSRP or even invoice? Nope! I paid just over $30K for mine with 18K miles. That is a lot of bang for the buck. Also, the 60 HP deficit hardly tells the story. The Ecoboost's broad torque curve is where it is at. And the Ecoboost really shines once tuned. The guy in the Acura TL-AWD that I smoke will never get the chance to prove it's road course worthiness!

Just wondering - why does your SHO's ability to pull away from a TL make you feel like a better person?

I think its funny, plenty of overbearing douches out there already. **** if I wanted to really kick some ass I would have kept my 85.5 SVO mustang and smoked all of the above. I couldn't disagree more that about sums it up
, sure having fun is always the goal, but when some self pronounced fan boy gets into bench racing about how much better , performance or what consumer reports thinks about a particular car in order to make themselves look better at your expense they are fair game.

I'll make a point to vid some of the smack and the end results (guaranteed)

The LS 460 is kind of sterile. Whats with the toys-r-us engine bay? Did they get a good deal on plastic?

I think for some of the new SHO owners here they need to understand that for most of the older generation owners, we don't really care about the Taurus and some don't even like Ford in general. It's more of a Yamaha thing, but we're not trying to disrespect the new SHO's it's just when somebody compares a 40k Taurus to a 70-80k luxury car, it's pretty hard to take seriously. I understand that some SHO owners like to compare the 89 SHO to the 89 535i. That's almost always from a performance standpoint. Usually the comment is it's a "poor man's BMW" or "poor man's jag" - their is no questioning that it's a cheaper car. Nobody is doubting that the 2010+ SHO is a fast car, but to say it's as nice as a Lexus LS? common really? The other difference is in 1989, what domestic sedan (or coupe - aside from a Corvette) could come even close to matching the Taurus SHO in performance. Your options were pretty limited. Even going outside of the domestics your options were limited, especially considering the price. So please excuse me for pointing out that today that is not the case, their are a lot of vehicles available at the same price that can match the SHO in performance, options/features, and build quality. I'm not saying the SHO is a bad car, but to say it's underrated or comparing it to something twice its price is implying it's head and shoulders above everything else at its price, and it's not.

I realize everyone has their opinion, I'm not saying anyones opinion is wrong. But when people sit there and say I'm bashing SHO's and ridicule mine, I have to assume they either don't understand what I'm saying or just don't care what anyone else has to say.

So if me pointing out that an Acura TL SH-AWD has the same performance, or a Charger R/T for that matter, insults you so much that you can't bear to take it, just go jump inside your Taurus with all those airbags and rest assured that being based on a Volvo, it's one of the safest cars on the planet and since it is also very quiet you won't have to hear anything from the outside world that would offend you.

I think Shos both prev generations as well as current, accomplish the goal they were designed for. I can only speak for the current gen as I have my share of gripes with certain areas esp the brakes and peeling "pseudo chrome" trim. Overall pound for pound its fair to say both early and late Gens of this model get it done nicely. I am a big Ford fan and think they have been making a lot of the right moves lately. Hopefully the trend continues. As for comparing to higher end models, its always refreshing to see how close to the mark your particular ride can get to the standard through testing and tuning when no one expects it. To be knee **** about "disrespect" is silly, as I mentioned earlier get out to the various competition venues and have a great time proving them wrong. Besides I love having the sleeper thing going, its a beautiful thing.
