Thats the absolute worst comparison as far as Sho's go. First of all, your car weighs nothing (for a sho). Second, you have the gen3 subframe. Third, you both are running coilovers, which are not setup for drag racing. For a FWD drag car the front springs should be short and light. The rear springs should be tall and as stiff as possible.

Slicks on a car that is setup correctly will always hook better than a DR. Of course Brian is breaking axles, hes running the g1 subframe and dumping the clutch. You pull a 1.9 on drag radials, Ill give you a dollar :)

And what about Mark N's gutted 89 that ran those same slicks, WITH Coilovers?

Yes, the Gen III Subframe makes a difference, but only in the sense of reducing wheel hop, something a gutted out SHO doesn't really have to worry about with a stiff enough suspension and slicks.

All I am saying is that the fastest SHO's on record have not ran slicks, It has all been DR cars...including Nicks car that was NOT on a gen III subframe. Slicks at this point is not the definite answer.

Josh T(Shonut), Brian(Area91), and Alex(somedude001) all had slicks and ran 12s. Theres more im forgetting too. Alex doesnt really count because of the atx.

As far as I know Brian is the only mtx guy running a faster 60ft than I did and he runs slicks.

PS I ran 2.0 flat, just looked at the slip a few days ago.

Heres my ideal setup

Gutted gen2 (I think the drag coefficient is better)
6in 250 lb front springs
14in 650lb rear springs
15in MT slicks (small gen2 brakes)
tiny ass rear wheels and tires
3.2 forged stock compression
Precision 6765 billet turbo
3.5in downpipe to a dump
gen3 subframe
no front swaybar
quaife (needed to heat up both tires)
stock shifter

Thats an 11 sec pass.

Actually the fastest that we all actually saw the timeslip for was Nik97 which was a 12.72

I think that slip got lost between the other two owners.

Both of you guys need to do your research on the cable mod and get some REAL slicks. Drag radials just dont cut it.

12.76@113. The time slip is in the car, but I don't think the new owner gives two ***** about how fast his car is..

Thanks James, same I used and still have. I just cant convince Scott(whiteguy3) to do anything cuz now all he wants to do is sell his atx and 5.3/4l60e an fc with turbo. I think I converted him lol. I still have those nittos just sitting in front of Scotts house just waiting to do another 12sec run.

I havent posted much on this forum since the part out but this topic reallly makes me talkative. I love this stuff!

PS someone argue with me!

Regardless, good conversation, not trying to start anything by any means, Just trying to prove to you that my E-Penor is the biggest on the Forum.

Ahhh you're right! He has run like 13.0000001 though lol.

All he has to do to run 12s is take out the passenger seat.

think the problem with the lack there of more 12 second cars is that we've been trying to launch more manual transmission cars than automatics.......

hmmmmmmmmm think somedude might have been ahead of his time.....or all of us wayyyy behind.

p.s. I disagree.......:snicker:

What is the GEN 3 record???

Yeah, I think you could probably launch an ATX better/more consistantly than the MTX.

How many transmission was it that he went through though?

That ATX, wasn't that the pink ATX trans? If so, it is now in Whiteguy's (Scott) car.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was the pink trans. I don't know if that was the original one or not. I know he blew the trans quite a few times. I think he got it built by someone the first time. He said that if he would have kept it in the power range that the guy said it would have lasted okay, but he kept bumping up the boost/power. Or atleast that's what I recall, it was a while ao that I read it. Maybe he will chime in.

The atx is too weak to last any amount of abuse. Scott just broke that pink trans less than a month ago. Still waiting on the outcome from the trans shop.
