This year is starting out to be a big year for the SHO communtity. With many builds going to be completed by spring and Tim's "dyno challenge" going on there is a LOT of potential for some new records.

After talking with 91PDXMocha (Evan) me and him kinda set a challenge with each other and we figured we might as well let SHOforum in on the challenge as well. Me and him will both be going for the record this season. His turbo mocha vs my cammed and sprayed gen2. So who els is getting tired of looking at Mark's 13.9 N/a run or the 12.79 by somedude. With plenty of people on the edge of dropping down into the 12's who can do it?

THE CHALLENGE: Run faster than a 13.9 all motor or run faster than a 12.79 with F/I with or w/o N20.

You do know that 12.79 isn't the fastest FI time, right? I can't remember the exact time but I think it was in the 12.54 range, S/C gen 1 with ~500whp.

Good to hear Tim, Hopefully you will contend.

Myself, Everyone should know I want the N/A title. I figured some competition might inspire me.

As soon as Tulsa Raceway opens up, I will get out there with the NA track SHO. With the drag radials on it, for its weight and HP it should have no problem running very low 14's. Been a few years since I tried to launch a SHO at a dragstrip. We as a community need to improve on that 13.9 time for sure.

Actually the fastest that we all actually saw the timeslip for was Nik97 which was a 12.72

I think that slip got lost between the other two owners.

Both of you guys need to do your research on the cable mod and get some REAL slicks. Drag radials just dont cut it.

I would counter and say the "slicks" are not exactly doing Brian any Justice. Based off his traps...he should be well in to the 12's by now. My street tired car with a whole lot less power pretty much matched his times, Imagine if I had switched from my street tires to Drag Radials.

Then we have Mark N's gutted Nitrous car, that ran the same quick time hossiers that Brian does...that car could only do 12.90's. Obviously, the DR cars have outran the cars on slicks by quite a big margin at this point.

I don't think its fair to say at this point that slicks is whats going to get every high horsepower SHO in to the 12's.

Thats the absolute worst comparison as far as Sho's go. First of all, your car weighs nothing (for a sho). Second, you have the gen3 subframe. Third, you both are running coilovers, which are not setup for drag racing. For a FWD drag car the front springs should be short and light. The rear springs should be tall and as stiff as possible.

Slicks on a car that is setup correctly will always hook better than a DR. Of course Brian is breaking axles, hes running the g1 subframe and dumping the clutch. You pull a 1.9 on drag radials, Ill give you a dollar :)

Oh and ask Justin, we were running side by side. He had an SC, mine turbo. I had DRs with a gen3 sf and he had slicks with a gen1 sf. I had him in the 60ft every time.

Well the blue car will not have a gen3 subframe when I attempt this but things could change. I just picked up a rotunda kit so I can finish up the cam install. After I get a tranny from james I should be able to put it back together within a month or so.

Quick question.. Does the SHO have to cross the line under its own power? Does it have to be a SHO motor? Just wanna make sure there are some guidelines to make it 'fair' or 'not wtf did you do?'.

Subscribed.. Sadly I don't think this is my year to finish my 3.2. :/
