Something most folks forget is that auto manufacturers are limited by packaging space, and tool/assembly clearances to appease the UAW. Many compromises are made to make assembly quicker/easier and for clearances of the particular chassis that the powerplant will be installed in. While enthusiasts could care less about having to take a bit more time to access the parts for maintenance/repairs, the UAW employees are more concerned with assembly speed and ease of assembly.The unequal length and odd shape and exit location are what strike me.
