I took the SHO to Atco for T&T tonight. The car was driven there, cooled for about 15-minutes then raced.

The first four passes were bone stock, leaving off the footbrake at no more than 1500-1700 rpm...
Pass 1
60'...2.098
1/8...8.960
MPH...78.58
1/4...13.875
MPH...101.04

Pass 2...15 minute cool down from Pass 1
60'...2.104
1/8...8.974
MPH...78.35
1/4...13.907
MPH...100.62

Pass 3...no cool down
60'...2.104
1/8...8.909
MPH...79.22
1/4...13.795
MPH...101.32

Pass 4...no cool down
60'...2.101
1/8...8.929
MPH...79.05
1/4...13.817
MPH...101.50

I then pulled the car into the pits and loaded the Stage 2 tune. There was probably a 20-25 minute cool down while this took place.

Pass 5
60'...2.003
1/8...8.624
MPH...81.03
1/4...13.425
MPH...102.89

Pass 6...no cool down
60'...2.054
1/8...8.666
MPH...81.13
1/4...13.446
MPH...103.46

Pass 7...no cool down
60'...2.072
1/8...8.708
MPH...80.82
1/4...13.511
MPH...102.95

Pass 8...10-15 minute cool down...I left harder on this pass, and with the Stage 2 tune, the car didn't bog as it did when on the stock tune
60'...1.995
1/8...8.603
MPH...81.24
1/4...13.380
MPH...103.28

I think that cooled, and launching even a bit harder will get it into the 13.2 range as it sits. The Livernois Stage 2 tune seems to have picked up ~2 mph, but about .4 over stock, pretty nice gains for just a tune. I will probably run it as it sits a few more times, and try to get it down a bit more. I'm thinking Tuesday night might be nice weather. After that, I may go to the Stage 3 tune to see the results of that. This would be just as tonight, running several passes on Stage 2, then loading Stage 3 and running several more passes.
Car is much more snappy with the tune. However, I am noticing what I think is a little bit of front wheelhop on the 1-2 shift. It wasn't doing this at the track.

No other mods, bone stock with a Stage 2 tune. I have an Airaid CAI in my garage, but my experience is that they are worth nothing unless it's a fairly big hp car.
And the air was not the best tonight. I rained much of the last two days, and although it was 50* when we got there, it was humid. Turbo/blown cars don't like humidity.

Nope...I may put on the Airaid, but I kinda' doubt it. I'll probably just try out the Stage 3 tune and compare it to the Stage 2 tune at the track.

I was at Immokalee last week Fri nite with Brick.
Temps were between 65 & 60 deg F. Best run was first. Always humid at night in FL.

My 1/8 mi best.
8.47 @ 82.49 mph
had 5 runs under 8.59
Speeds ranged from 82.36mph - 82.60mph

Had traction issues on several other runs. Need to play with tire pressures among
other things. Amazing what tunes and a few other tweaks can do!

"MY BRICK IS QUICK"

MY G8 IS GRRRR8.

Last night I took my 08' Pontiac G8 GT to same 1/8 track. Temps were between 60 & 49 deg F.

Best run:
8.32 @ 85.83MPH
MANY RUNS UNDER 8.5 & OVER 85 MPH.
Best top speed was 86.12mph.

Best run was LAST, and the 5th in successive passes within a 15 min period.
Had traction issues. In one instance, I spun thru first & second and when G8 shifted into 3rd, it started going sideways... Exciting!!!! That's evidently what happened to the to G8's on u-tube that ended up kissing the wall. Rear wheels/tires are 050A Bridgestone 285-35-19 & weigh 58 lbs. Stickier tires/lighter wheels are a must.

G8 mods: Kooks middies w/high flow cats, Magnaflows w/H-pipe, Rotofab Cai, Vector Motorsports Tuned engine & tranny, Special IAT sensor, 160 deg T-stat, under drive pulley, ported intake and throttle body, oil catch can.

Not bad. Does your car have the performance pack? Your stock times are much better than our non-performance pack car. Ours went low 14's stock and 12.98 with the stage 2 tune and Corsa exhaust.

Keep us updated as you go to the track more!

Holy thread hijack.

I think he was thinking the same thing.

Sorry...

Just comparing... Should have perhaps started a new thread...
I think I do this lots... and don't even realize it.

Snorman... were you at Orlando track, or somewhere up north?

Reason I asked was it was that temp here in SW FLA last night! Orlando was likely as cool or cooler than NJ.

EB definitely likes cool air. Not sure how much humidity hurts us. Doesn't seem to make as big a difference as in a normally aspirated car, from my experiences. You will like the stage 4 Liv. tune even more! If you have traction issues, lower those tire pressures.

Bob, I think you are right the humidity won't affect the turbo as much as if the car was normally aspirated or if you had higher flow fuel injectors. However, one word of caution when lowering tire pressure...be careful, if you get too low the car can get pretty squirrelly when launching hard...and yes, I learned that the hard way?:banghd:

I have a number of turbo/blown cars, and they don't like humidity. Cool, dry, dense air is even more advantageous for them than NA cars.

Actually that does make sense...it would be harder for the turbo/blown cars to compress the air with the higher water content.:banghd:
