I am replacing AC lines and I have gotten all new lines except for these:

This line goes from the Accumulator to compressor.

DSC04355

DSC04353

This line connects to the compressor too.

DSC04352

DSC04351

Can you not find the above parts new?
Thanks for the help!

If you've checked all the parts houses, including RockAuto, and they don't have them, have you checked an "automotive air" specialty site like www.autoaironline.com? I tried to look on there just now but they're catalog seems to be messed up at the moment. Might want to check four seaons auto a/c website.

The parts are bound to be out there somewhere.

Edit: I'm not great with a/c stuff, but four seasons (www.4s.com) has photos of the lines. Look up part #s 55620 accumulator, 55722, liquid line w/ orifice, 55920 discharge. See if any of those work. One of the lines looks similar. Wouldn't you just buy new suction and discharge lines? The accumulator comes with one of those anyway.

Those are extremely difficult parts to find - they are long since discontinued by Ford, and nobody aftermarket really makes them.

You might be able to get your dealer to do a parts locator search for them - to see if you might be able to buy some NOS one's somewhere. But, expect $$$

Why do you need to replace them, they are rusty sure, but why not clean them up and reinstall them?

The line in this pic I think is leaking.

I do not have a problem reusing the other line.

I recall past threads about that line; you can probably dig them up with a forum search. To the best of my recollection, the solution was to find a custom AC shop that has the equipment and knowledge to fabricate the line, reusing the hard line part of it and crimping on a new rubber section.

if you go to a hydraulic supply house, they can probably re-make the one you have for you - cut off the swages on either end of the hose and swage in a new hose.

^ That is probably your best bet. SHORANGERBIRD recently searched for a new line for his restoration and was unable to locate one, so he had his repaired by a shop. Here's his post -
-just want to update about the A/C line i was looking for in the want ads.....

of course the line has long been discontinued and i only really got 2 responses on the ad, so i began trying to find someone to repair the old line.
if you didnt see it or forgot how it looked it was like this:

000 0003 16
000 0004 15

thant was AFTER i wire brushed it. but i drove all over to places people would send me to saying.."oh so-n-so can fix that for you." well guess what? so & so CAN'T fix it! i had heard of this place before when i was doing the brake lines. its called Wizard Automotive. one of their specialties is hoses. so i took it over yesterday. guy says: take about an hour or so. i said really? but i left it so i could get back to work and told him to call when ready. well, it was actually about an hour and a half. so went and got it today, and you can see they did a great job. now the only thing i see wrong or bad and it may be ok in the end, is the hose they used is three-quarter inch instead of the five-eighths on the original. so hope fully space wont be a issue on it. but it looks great and they redid the end and everything.

cost: $50....eh, not cheap, but knowing it can be done by someone next time will save the time and gas money of searching. later...:salute:

I went to many hydraulic business and many of the refused or said they were not set up for that kind of work. You would think with the harder times we are in that some of these shops would want some business.

Quick question. Four seasons part number:55722 has a description of: Liquid Line w/ Orifice Tube. So does that mean I need a Orifice to stick in the tube or hook u the line as is. Sorry I do not know much about AC systems.

No those have the oriface built in.

Did they build that bayt scanning it and having a machine bend it or did they just mock it up by hand? It's a thing of beauty to know these hoses can be replaced for $50.

Did you get a quote for the other hose?? Can you?

-lot of hydralic shops wont do them because they do not have line for a/c. most all the hose they carry is for fluid. the type of hose is different. thats why you have to search out for one that does a/c. but sure if they get the right type of hose, they could do them.....

93rev...they used the old manifold line part, cut it close to the crimp and made all new from there....

I was shipped some used lines and was curious about the below piece:
DSC04351

I looked up into the cylinder chamber thingy with a flash light and saw rust. Is it ok to use this piece still? Looks like is been of a car for a long while. Even around where the two o-rings are their is a very tiny bit of rust. The o-rings were black too. R12? It is ok to recharge it with R134a. That was what was in my car before I took the AC apart.

Also some of the lines have dirt and crud in them. What can I use to flush them out before installing them? Water?

:bump: Anyone? Regarding previous post and this: I got some steel wool inside the above (picture) piece while prepping it for paint. Can I flush it out with water? Looked up the part number and ford said it was a AC compressor manifold and valve.

Thank fro the help.

Well I figured out it was a muffler. I rinsed it out with water and then poured alcohol in it to split the water to get rid of all the moisture and then sprayed it out with my air-gun. So it should be good to go right guys?

The units that you have are in excellent shape.
When I did my 95 MTX, I had to buy these units from a member on this forum, as they were not available from anywhere else. I sent back quite a few units (to manufacturers) that claimed to be what I needed, so don't go down that road. Anything that bolts to the compressor can't be bought for the MTXs.
Consider your units "new".
