My 94 3.2 atx sho wont heat up.i changed the t-stat(motorcraft) and temp sender twice and replaced fan relay module, problem not solved.temp gauge never passes l on [normal] at highway speeds. In stop and go traffic never passes the a. I have let car ilde for long periods of time and fans will come on when the gauge reaches the a and fans shuts off at the m. With a/c on max gauge stays b/t the a and l. New rad and cap, all this done in last four months. Please help, this problem is also killing my gas mileage.

I did replace t-stat & was put in correct, check engine light is not on but does work.i also replaced the ccrm two days ago but no fix to the problem.temp might show normal but my fuel mileage is way low. Will any type of ground connection have any thing to do with it.

You might have noticed as you replaced the temp sender for the dash (I assume you're not actually replacing the EEC temp sender...) that it only had one pin on it. All electrical circuits need a positive and a negative to work, so the temp sender grounds through the block itself. Thus, if the engine block has a poor ground, this might be causing issues.

What kind of MPG are you getting? Do you drive mostly city? If you do, O2s can get old and not work as well without setting a CEL, and it will most assuredly destroy your mileage.

Even with cruise control, you still need to steer.

I'm with project all day... I thought L was a little cold for my SHO, until I put an IR thermometer on the thermostat housing... watched it crawl up to 190, then it dropped..

my "range" there is between M and A on the highside, and runs on the highway at L.. :)

You can test the gage by first taking the single wire off the sender. Ground it with the key on, the gage should go H. Apply 12v and it should go to L.

If this does not happen then the problem is in the IC circuits or connection.
