nope! i actually just closed the gap on my plugs a bit just because i stepped the boost up and since im running stock pistons i wanted to be safe. On 7-8 psi i was using the stock plug gap and not blowing out the spark.

just make sure you get them mounted securely. My first set would pop out and cause a misfire until i changed my setup.

btw what happened to your tranny? 3rd?

Pretty sure that's what happened but havent had a chance to remove it. I think its time to turn the motor 90* or a transplant.

Following your thread with passion. One **** of a job so far.

My sold SR 72 before I put the full roll cage in weighed in just about 2900 pds .... I went cheap on the roll cage and didnt use chrome molly( too expensive) so I used the heavy weight gauge piping ..... One mistake i made is had the roll cage put in before I contemplated on my dash removal. Factory dash was still there. I should have removed it and all the wiring under it.

Car looks great ....cant wait to see when its finished

Do you have to make your own curve for that MAF? I'm thinking of ditching the 90mm LMAF and going with a SCT BA-3000. But my setup is draw through.

Also did you place stock IAT sensor from the airbox on the piping? I'm thinking of using one off a Tbird SC since they are brass and I think use some sort of NPT fitting, I think the plastic one from the SHO will melt, any thoughts?

Don't want to start anything here, but I don't understand the fascination with COP. I run BIG boost on the top and haven't had any issues with a the stock ignition system. I was running a MSD until it "wigged out" on me twice. I switched back and even added Nitrous to the boost, and never looked back.

At least in this thread, the big plus is that you can do away with the coil pack, which gives more room right around the turbo (in Tim's setup).

It is ALL about getting rid of the coil pack. I can honestly say there is NO power increase with the cop. It just makes sense with all the stuff you already ditched and made more room with.

Edit: the website says to use a stock sensor between 300 and 400 hp. I might just go with a stocker and save 200 bucks. i can get the maf for 50 and ****** for 50.

This setup does put the turbo closer to the coil pack, so heat may become an issue. Time will tell. I am going crazy with heat management, so hopefully all will be well.

What about fab'ng up a heat shield? I've got my air/water IC wrapped with heat insulation to keep it "cool" from under hood temps.

I am doubly wrapping my turbine, first with a 'hard' formed shield, then with a soft boot. Later I want to get all my pipes ceramic coated, but for now, just some good wrap. Plus, this engine bay will have more flow through it than my previous projects.

a cheap solution that worked really well for my turbo was using a *** with heat wrap rivited to it. cost me about 10 bucks. whiteguy has a pic of it in his gen 3 subframe thread. you could put your hand on it (briefly) after making hard pulls. AND it comes in a super high polish!!!

water/oil cooled turbos seem to keep the underhood temps much lower.

the turbo for my camaro project is not water cooled. it has ceramic bearings or some nonsense so I was informed that water cooling is not necessary... I don't like the idea of not having coolant go through it but on the + side it will help keep oil temps down slightly... however I don't see how a coolant fed turbo will lower underhood temps at all.
