After getting time, i went out today and vinyl wrapped the rear chrome trunk trim. It's definitely not perfect but from 10ft away it looks good! Side window trim is next. I have to order a larger size roll for them as its more area to cover. Stay tuned!

Right! That'll be my next step is use a heat gun on a low setting and take my time. From a distance it looks good! I used my fingernail to press in the indentation.
its a pain, the indent is a pita. I used a heat gun on low to help.

They have low cost tools you can buy that are soft plastic on amazon to help with those tough spots. It's not a race but a passion.

I taped my oval off and plast dipped the spear, came out nice. also used left over headlight tint on the emblem. The spear comes off pretty easily so when you wrap it or dip it I recommend removal. You can wrap the vinyl around the back of it and use a heat gun to get it down in the groove but it still might come up in spots, Not a huge fan of plasti dip any more but it works in some situations.

Yes removal of these trim parts is the easiest way to work on it with neatness being a priority. The chrome on the doors, can pop out, however the trim connectors have a tendency to stretch once removed, and when you put them back, they dont have the fit as from the factory. If you take them off, in hindsight I agree with @Junkyard_Mad-Scientist plasti dip is a great option.

To follow up on this I DO NOT recommend removing the window trim, it is very brittle and after attempting to remove it from the door and seal I now have a pretty annoying wind noise. Best to do that one in place. its tedious and when I wrapped mine it was 100/10...100% from 10 feet away

I worry about plastidip because it doesn't last as long as wrapping the trim. As for removing it, i may try that OR if I do a section at a time like start at the belt line first then do the upper portions. Hoping all goes smoothly. I just ordered more wrap and the temps in my area are gonna be mid 90s with heat indexes of over 100°. I'll have to wait until it cools down enough to apply it!

Plasti dip will lost longer with more coats, I did 5 coats on my fusions wheels and they still look good 6 years later. But I didn't dip the window trim, that I did wrap, the biggest bear you'll have wrapping the trim is the rear section behind the rear door, somewhat of an awkward angle.

I'll figure it out when I go to do it. Just hoping for good end results.

I scrapped the idea for now. Not enough time and the weather hasnt helped. Now that it's December it's a shelved idea until next spring. Mechanical stuff is first. I gotta get my water pump and timing chain done next weekend.

Yes, consensus is 80-120k is the sweet spot to get the pump and chains done. The further you push it the more risk you assume. PO did the pump and chains in my car at 77k because the pump let go and dumped into the oil pan. Sooner the better

How much should I expect to pay, or is it worth doing it yourself?

126k and the person i bought it from didn't say he had any issues and i took his word for it. **** since march ive had zero mechanical issues at all. The only hiccup was a dirty battery connection back in august when the car shut off on me as i was backing into a parking space. Cleaned up the connection and tightened down the negative cable and bam i was back in business. But im beginning to think my car has had the water pump and timing chain already replaced if i had made it this far and the car running strong, no leaks, no funny noises and plenty of boost!
